Applications for OneBeat Virtual will be accepted from February 10 March 10, 2021 for participation in either OneBeat V.1 (July 12 September 6, 2021) or OneBeat V.2 (September 20 Nove...mber 17, 2021). Musicians and sonic artists, ages 19-35, from eligible countries and territories are invited to apply. Fellows will receive an honorarium, a per diem for online work sessions, and, based on individual need, a small subsidy for technical support. We are happy to share 'Cumbia Negra'! This video was shot during the last day of the OneBeat Colombia program in June of 2019. It features Accordionist and singer-songwriter Diana Burco rapper/writer/beatboxer (and sometimes ukulele player) Austin Dean Ashford. This song is a mix of cumbia and hip hop, and in it Diana reflects on the complex nature of race in Colombia. This video was shot (in one take) in the mountains of Boyacá, Colombia, where neither cumbia nor hip hop are... particularly traditional, but yet it seemed like the perfect setting for this video.
