Day 9, on a giant, Arty stands, Squealing aloud, "look Ma, no hands!" Into the herd, third largest in the world, Above his head, little arms swirled.... Reptile rodeo of sorts, but rather slow, Gentle dismount, into hay, and not snow! Winter quarters, for African Spur Thigh, Retreat for cold blooded, as Jack Frost stops by. Warmth, endless food, life is great, But for sunny days, tortoises do wait! Until then, I think you can tell, Life of relaxation, cozy in shell!

Day 8, nothing but trouble, Arty and Taj, antics, double! Bull, now three, coming of age, But how old is Arty? Much tougher to gauge!... Year one hundred, considered adult, We would never ask, for fear of insult. Wisdom and experience, stall door just ajar, Engaging Tajiri, from close, not afar. Day to be spent, playing giraffe-games, The North Pole it's reindeer, just a difference in names!

We join the East Texas Zoo and Gator Park in mourning the loss of Azizi, who passed unexpectedly at their facility on Tuesday. Azizi was the most recent, and last, calf of April the Giraffe. We know that Azizi's passing could not have been predicted nor prevented. His loss is absolutely devastating to our team, and he will be loved, missed, and cherished by the global Animal Adventure Park community. This news is heartbreaking, and we extend our condolences and support to the facility that Azizi called home.

There are two types of camels: one humped or dromedary and two humped Bactrian camels. Larry and Barry are our dromedary camels. These two were born this Spring and have grown quite a bit. Camels are well adapted to the harsh conditions of living in a desert. They have three sets of eyelids and two rows of eyelashes to keep sand out of their eyes. They are also able to completely shut their nostrils during sandstorms. The last day of the season for the park is Oct. 25! We will reopen for Jungle Bells on Nov. 12.
