Happy holidays to everyone! 518 Acupuncture will be closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day. Take some time at the end of 2020 to rest, eat good food and spend with loved ones, whether that is by phone, video chat or at small gatherings. ... February starts the year of the Metal Ox. I’ll tell you all about it in an upcoming newsletter! Cheers to 2021! #518 #acupuncture #health #wellness #yearoftheox

We are in the midst of Fall, a season associated with the element of metal, dryness, the lungs, and the color white. Fall is the beginning of the yin (compared to yang) cycle of the year. Daylight is less than twelve hours and we become a little more introspective. The lung and large intestine are related to Fall and the metal element, and are associated with the emotion of letting go. Some find it hard to let go of the long hours of daylight that Summer had to offer. Acu...puncture can help with the process of letting go. The lung is considered the tender organ because it is the uppermost organ in the body and is susceptible to wind and cold. Be sure to dress much warmer at this time of year, as the Fall season tends to allow for more coughs and colds. Try to avoid a lot of cold and raw foods at this time of year as well. They create dampness, or phlegm, which is produced by digestion and stored in the lungs. See a previous post about making bone broth. Bone broth is an excellent breakfast dish! #acupuncture #518 #health #wellness #seasons
