Meet Philomena and little Mopsy! When Philomena’s mother found out she was pregnant, she prayed to the Saints to bring her a healthy child. Philomena Marie, named after those Saints who answered her mother’s prayer, was born and is lovingly nicknamed Philarie. Philarie came to Grace when her husband needed to come to Buffalo for medical care at Roswell Park and Buffalo General. She said she looked all over for an affordable place that would accept her precious Mopsy. Thankf...ully, they found a place at Grace! We accept ADA service dogs and all other dogs are accepted on a case-by-case basis. Call 716-829-7240 if you or a loved one are seeking medical care in Buffalo to see if Grace is right for you and your furry friend!
Resharing this beautiful message about empathy. Grace is here for families who are on a difficult medical journey far from home. Don’t go it alone come to Grace. We’ll walk alongside you you’re not alone.
Meet Ronnie and Deborah, a brother and his tenacious caregiving sister. After surgery at Roswell Park they were unable to return home to Utica, NY because Ronnie's daughter, with whom he lives, became ill with Covid-19. Deb's apartment was out of the question because it is a 3rd floor walk-up. So their stay with Grace was extended another 10 days until it was safe for Ronnie to return home. What was meant to be a couple of days became 13 restful nights at Grace without fear of putting Ronnie at risk. We’re proud to serve caregivers like Deborah and patients like Ronnie in their time of need. If you or someone you love is seeking medical care in Buffalo, stay with Grace. Call 716-829-7240 to reserve today.
We are so thankful to our friend and former employee, Sarah! She made this beautiful design for Grace and visited us to update us on her new adventures. Sarah is now pursuing a college degree and we couldn’t be prouder. Keep it up, Sarah! And thank you for sharing your artistic talent. The next time you’re at Grace, make sure to check it out in the entryway!

: Back in the before times, you may have met Elaine at Grace. She could often be found baking Gracies, our signature cookie, for tours. But Elaine is much more than a baker. She is the mother of our Executive Director, Cindy Battista. She encouraged and supported her daughter in the creation of Grace. At Grace’s board meetings, she serves as the recording secretary. If you’ve ever stayed at Grace, then there’s a detail you may have missed that Elaine is also responsible for:... ironing pillowcases. As she irons, Elaine prays a small blessing over each pillowcase that each person laying their head on the pillowcase be blessed and find restful slumber. From our creation to our finishing touches, Elaine is essential in providing the Embrace of Grace to all our guests. Thank you, Elaine. Stay tuned for the story behind Gracies, custom embroidery signs created by Elaine, and more stories of all the people who make the Embrace of Grace possible!

A medical emergency can hit at any time. Even in the middle of a flight. Florence knows this all too well as she recently experienced with her 93-year-old father. They were travelling from New York City to the West coast, after just having arrived from Kenya, when they had to land in Buffalo and her father was taken to a nearby hospital. She stayed by his side for 36 hours, not wanting to leave him alone. However, one of the social workers finally convinced her to come to Gr...ace. Shortly after arriving at Grace, her brother-in-law James flew to Buffalo so she wouldn’t have to be alone. Could you imagine? Your father is admitted to the hospital in a city you’ve never been to, where you don’t know anyone and everything you packed is 1,000 miles away? This was Florence’s reality, but she had faith and she stood resolute in it. Florence and her brother-in-law were the living embodiment of the quote hanging on Grace’s Executive Director’s door: Sticks in a bundle are unbreakable. A stick alone can be broken by a child. This a saying from the Maasai indigenous group, who are native to Kenya. The two strengthened each other and, when Florence’s father was finally released from the hospital, they brought him to Grace to rest before they continued their journey. Florence said Grace was the good Samaritan from the Bible. Willing to help in our time of need. Florence and her family are just another example of why Grace is necessary and why the world is #FullOfGrace

Meet the Team! Kathy Kelley Guest Services Supervisor I have basically lived in West Seneca Buffalo my whole life. One day my neighbor Cindy came across the street and said, I’m doing something and maybe you’d be interested in hearing about it. That was the first time I heard about Grace.... A few years back my husband John was diagnosed with cancer of the eye, a melanoma, and we had to go to Cleveland clinic with two days notice. It was going to be a one day visit to find out what needed to be done and we saw every doctor except the last doctor, so we had to find a hotel. Two weeks later we were back in Cleveland because the treatment was going to be a full day treatment and we had to be there for 4 days. We have some very dear friends and they helped us out. They used their hotel points to put us up and that was very special because they didn't have to do that, but they did it because we're good friends. And that's how I feel about Grace: we're all just good friends here and we do anything for the community to help. So, one of our lovely guests and her son were able to get in to see some doctors at Roswell Park and made those arrangements at 4:00 in the afternoon coming from Albany area and they weren't going to get here until about 11:00. We got her and her son in, who was very ill, but he had an appointment at 11:00 the next morning at Roswell. We got them in, got him upstairs, and he went to bed. This mom was just a little frazzled and it was so wonderful to be able to help out in that situation for her. We sat in the kitchen, had a cup of tea, and got a muffin out because she hadn't eaten since 4:00 in the afternoon. She was just able to sit down and take a deep breath knowing her son was asleep, not in the backseat of a car, but in a bed nice and warm. I think that feeling is what I need to know: that I'm able to help people with that burden. If I had one word to describe Grace, it would be peace. Kathy is just another person reminding us that the world is #fullofgrace - - - #instagood #gracehouse #nonprofit #healthcarehospitality #buffalo #buffalove #feelgoodfriday #faith #love #service
