Hey all, I just had a brief conversation with Maria at the rink and the time frame would be between 6/29 and 7/10 and we would be able to play the weekend directly after the rink opens. I guess it is a possibility that we would be playing July 5th, which in normal times might suck but I am not sure how much choice we have. We have to get the remaining games in by the end of August because everyone's USA hockey runs out then, so there may have to be some week night games put i...n the schedule to achieve that. Bottom line is in a few weeks we will be back on the ice and that is a good thing. I think the playoffs are out of the question this year, at the end of the season we can all decide if we want a championship game and a consolation game that everyone would have to pitch in for that night, I would have to run it like a pickup game with refs. We can figure that out later as it gets closer. The minute I get any solid info I will let you all know. Thanks Joe

I emailed the Rink today and asked about them opening. They are phase 4 and believe it to be late June. I will try back in a few weeks and see if this is still the date. We will resume the league at that time. Stay safe and see you soon! Melnik

The rink will be closed until further notice, I will be pushing the season back and not scheduling any playoffs, I will keep in contact with the rink and post any updates when I get them. Everyone take care of your families Joe

All, As a result of recent developments regarding the now confirmed presence of COVID-19 within our community, and the associated mandates from local and state government authorities, the Midstate Athletic Community Center/Midstate Youth Hockey Association and all associated programming will be closed/suspended indefinitely, effective Monday 3/16/20 at 8:00PM. The organization understands that this decision is disruptive for our members, participants, and associates. However..., in unprecedented times like these, where public health and safety is of utmost importance, the organization has chosen to err on the side of caution in an effort to help mitigate the threat of coronavirus. Thank you for your understanding as the global community works together to find a solution for this pandemic. Any existing facility reservations will be rescheduled where appropriate and those individuals/parties will not be responsible for payment until after the facility reopens, programming resumes, and the event(s) take place. Similarly, any recurring membership payments will be suspended until the facility reopens and normal programming resumes. MYHA teams will receive a credit for their ice slots during the facility closure, which will be rescheduled for dates after the facility reopens. March 13, 2020 RE: MIDSTATE STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO NYS GOVERNOR’S MANDATE ON LARGE GATHERINGS ... The Midstate organization is aware and supportive of Governor Cuomo’s mandate that all public events with 500 or more individuals in attendance be canceled or postponed. Additionally, this mandate requires that any gathering with under 500 individuals in attendance be reduced by 50%, with exceptions being made for spaces where individuals do not make sustained close contact, such as schools, hospitals, public buildings, mass transit, grocery stores and retail stores. These new regulations will go into effect Friday, March 13th at 5:00PM. The Midstate Athletic Community Center does not have any events scheduled in the immediate future that would require the organization to cancel or postpone any activities per the Governor’s mandate, and the facility falls within the Governor’s exempt category. To be clear, all current events scheduled to take place at the Midstate Athletic Community Center remain on as scheduled, and the facility remains open to the public as of March 13, 2020. We do not anticipate any disruptions as of this date and time. The health and well-being of our employees and patrons is of utmost importance, and we will continue to monitor developments in the COVID-19 epidemic, while adhering to all government mandates. In the meantime, the organization will continue our increased facility-wide cleaning and disinfecting efforts, using products confirmed to eliminate 99.9% of viruses and bacteria, and we would like to thank all doctors, medical personnel, and first responders for their tireless efforts in keeping the general public safe and informed. There are still zero confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Onondaga and bordering counties as of this date.
