Rich personal memories of Ed Block, who preceded Marilyn as CCO of ATT prior to 1/1/'84, Marilyn, who was also a friend and client, Del, Dick, a good friend who I brought to the Museum as a Trustee, and Shelley Zuckerman Spector and Barry Spector the founders of The Museum of Public Relations. Ed, Marilyn, Dick and I all served as early Trustees of the Arthur W. Page Society. For more info see www.facebook.prmuseum.
The Lincoln Memorial on a snowy winter's evening. Happy Presidents' Day to all my FB friends and followers.
Let there be light to drive out the cursed darkness.
Texas, the rugged, individualistic, eccentric state (a former Republic) whose politicians (Rick Perry) occasionally whip up the mob by threatening to secede from the Union by resuming their Republic status, where Lone Star is marketed as the National Beer of Texas even though the brand is owned by Pabst Blue Ribbon and is actually brewed by Miller Coors, where the alcohol regulatory agency (TABC) functions as the nanny cops looking out for the health and safety of all ...Texans through silly and ridiculous regulations and under the total control of the alcohol distributors/wholesalers who contribute millions to all statewide candidates who appoint the TABCs 3 Commissioners I’m shocked that Texas would be the only state where craft breweries (the fastest growing market segment for alcohol beverages with a bullet) would not be able to sell their products with a retail license to consumers who have tasted the beers at the brewery and would love to take some home. There is no such license for craft breweries because the TABC doesn’t want them to have one. Let’s see if TXLege in this biennial session can actually produce some rigorous oversight of TABC. Tough year for the global network (holding company) agencies.
Ouch! This has gotta hurt big time. He's a legend in the advertising/public relations world in Texas, and the UT's Moody College of Communications named its advertising program after him. In the age of ubiquitous digital devices there is no such thing as "private" or "off the record" or "privileged" communication. When we began our careers in a media intensive attitude rich environment, a wise mentor said, "If you don't want to read it on the front page of a newspaper don't write it or say it."
the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Remarkably insightful and wise assessment of the changes in marketing and communications/public relations with respect to measurement and evaluation of the strategy, skills, tools and resources used by the practitioners, managers and leaders of the campaigns, annual operating plans, and strategic plans over time for agencies and clients Chris Atkins is a well respected veteran of the marketing and public relations wars, and an able advocate of the effectiveness of each in the marketing mix. His blog is worth following. And this is a fine endorsement of Mark Stouse's leadership as the founder of Proof Analytics, the disruptive start-up that is changing the way marketing communications is measured and evaluated in real time for business impact and value creation across the enterprise. #ProofAnalytics
Major coverage in The Holmes Report about Proof and #FOFOCrisis facing #marketing and #PR professions. According to Mark Stouse ( founder of Proof) more coverage to come in other business press.
