Shortly after 21:00 (9:00 pm) last night Adams Center Fire and south Jeff rescue were dispatched for a 2 vehicle personal injury rollover Mva on 81 northbound. Moments later 2-4-2 was enroute with a crew and arrived on scene and found a subject pinned underneath a rolled over box truck. Members immediately went to work stabilizing the vehicle and began extrication and requested Adams Fire to expedite to the scene for Air bags. Due to the seriousness of injuries 81 north bound was shut down for over a hour well the helicopter could land on the highway. Thank you to all the agency’s who assisted us last night.

Last Saturday's Shop By a Cop event was a huge success thanks to the dedication and Christmas spirit of people like Correctional Officer Joe Elmer and many othe...rs that donated their time to make it happen. These are just some of the wonderful photos by Bren Elizabeth Photography, who donated her time and expertise as well. During this difficult year, we continued our Shop With a Cop program for underprivileged children in our community, but with a twist. In an effort to keep all the children and volunteers safe the 2020 ‘Shop With a Cop’ program became ‘Shop BY a Cop’. In years past a first responder (Deputy Sheriff, Police Officer, Correctional Officer, Firefighter, or other emergency worker) teamed up with a child to provide a little extra help with Christmas shopping. This year instead of shopping together, the first responder received a Walmart gift card and went Christmas shopping on behalf of those children selected. The children then received their gifts from Santa, McGruff, and first responders at the Public Safety Building. We would again like to acknowledge the generosity of both local Walmart stores, Sam’s Club of Watertown, and other local businesses and citizens who helped provide this unique opportunity for local underprivileged children and their families, including: Adams Center Volunteer Fire Department, Colonial Welding, Current Applications, Fraternal Order of Eagles Watertown Aerie 782, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Employees Locals 3089, Knowlton Technologies, North Branch Farms, Pattycakes Tire Repair, Waite Toyota, Watertown Firefighters Benevolent Association, Watertown Police Benevolent Association, Mr. George Anderson, Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Hazen, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Brooks, and several anonymous donors.

Several projects being worked on at the fire station this week. Our old floor drains were a trip hazard, so the trench was filled in and new smaller drains were installed under the trucks. They have also begun to tear up the old driveway and lay stone down in preparation for new blacktop. Please use caution in the area of the fire station as they continue to work on the driveway.

As we enter the heating season, please take a moment to test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. If they are the kind with replaceable batteries, it is a good idea to replace them. Also the detectors should be replaced once they reach 10 years old.

It is getting to be that time of year where we have to have heat at night. Please take the time to clean out your chimney now if you haven't already. That will keep you and your family safe. If you really want to see us, we would prefer that you visit us during our Chicken BBQ on October 10th.

Today, we remember all of those lost in the attacks on 9/11, those lost in the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, and those lost to a 9/11 related cancer since. We will never forget.
