Part Four: Many of you have asked how the money raised from the Schroon Lake Cares campaign will be distributed. Our primary focus is the support of Chamber members from the retail, restaurant and lodging sectors who are most affected by the loss of summer tourism. The Chamber's Fundraising Committee identified a list of 42 eligible member businesses who were each contacted and asked to opt in or out based on the criteria established, including the fact that funds would be eq...ually distributed among recipients. While there may be some differences between businesses, they are all local, small merchants. Equal distribution of funds eliminates making a judgment as to whether one business deserves more funding than another, and why. A total of 28 member businesses opted in to the campaign.
