The Adirondack Wildlife Refuge officially reopened for Public Visits on Friday, June 26th. If there's more than 4 of you, it's probably best to call ahead and alert us that you're coming, either 855-Wolf-Man, or 914-772-5983. You must wear your COVID mask. We'll have a very limited number of masks available at the Refuge, including the ones Steve and Wendy are wearing. If you come with a group, and there's more than two of you, please send one adult into the Welcome Center to... register your group. All groups must register, even if you're solo or there's just two of you. No more than ten people at a time are allowed in the Welcome Center, and only 10 total at a time up on the Bear Viewing Deck. You must keep your six foot social distancing. Anti-bacterial soap, plastic gloves and toilet seat covers will be available, although all surfaces will be cleaned every two hours. We look forward to seeing you all again. Steve See more
As winter approaches, we want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to visit and learn about Black Bears before we close their exhibit for the season. If you would like to see Luvey and Ahote before hibernation, please make a visit soon! We will be closing their enclosure around mid November, and will provide a firmer date when we are able. Thank you all! #BlackBear #BlackBearAmbassador #Hibernation ... #AdirondackWildlifeRefuge #AWR #Adirondacks #WinterIsComing See more

Meet the Marten. I was in Yellowstone in late September. While going on a hike (to try to see a bear) as my boyfriend and I were walking we happened to see th...is little guy peering from the tree at us. He posed so cute. He was very interested in what I was doing. This creature was new to my eyes. I had never seen one. I had to look it up. It’s adorable. I rarely see people post pictures of them so I thought I’d share. Thank you for adding me. . P.s. I did not see a bear on the hike. . Next year.... See more
