A Joyful Dog 14.11.2020

Today is Pitbull Awareness day! We have gotten asked by new clients on more than one occasion if we have and breed restrictions. Here at AJD we are proud to welcome pups of any and all kinds. Dogs are judged by their breed far too often, and Pitbulls/Pit-Mixes are a prime example. We have so many lovely Pitty babies that come in for daycare and we couldn't imagine it any other way.

Happy new dog Sunday everyone! This week we welcomes four new pups to the Joyful Family. Our first new addition was Rosie, a 3-year-old Husky Mix who joined her brother Oscar (a returning Joyful pup for daycare). She was a little nervous to be around so many new dogs, even with her brother there. On her first day she prefer human company more than making new four-legged friends, but hopefully over time with more visits she gets more comfortable in group. Next was Juno who i...s a 3-month-old Australian Shepherd who is a new sister to Rebel and Lucius (other returning pups). She had her first day of daycare with us and was fearless! Her brave puppy energy fit right into daycare and she has so much fun making new friends. We can't wait to see this little fluff-ball again! Poppy, a 6-month-old Mix Breed, also had her first time in daycare with us this week. She was so excited to come in and meet new humans, but was a little timid around new dogs at first. By the end of the day she had come out of her shell and was having a blast in group. We hope she comes back again to keep up her socialization experience! Last we welcomed Toby, a 4-month-old Chihuahua Mix who boarded with us this week. He was shy at first given that it was his first time away from home, but he started to warm up in no time. He loved getting attention from humans and he got to play with a few dogs too. Hopefully next time if he is more comfortable he can try daycare! Welcome all of our new pups! We hope you all had a great weekend.

Did you know you can book your pups daycare and boarding on you own? Here at AJD we use a system call "Pet-Exec" to keep track of all of our bookings and schedules. What is awesome about Pet-Exec is they have their own app and interface for our customers to use! With the app you can schedule your fur-babies daycare days and times, as well as make your own boarding reservations. As always, we are happy to help you over the phone or via email. Let us know if you have any questions about Pet-Exec!

Determining of whether or not to spay/neuter your pet is a choice many owners must make. There is a lot of conflicting research out there, and making this decision can be difficult. However, here at A Joyful Dog we require all dogs over 7 months that participate in daycare to be spayed/neutered. While this age is younger than some vets might recommend, we have this rule is in place in order to keep our daycare groups safe. Having unaltered dogs that are sexually mature in a ...group with altered dogs can often cause tension and increased aggression. That is why if a dog boards with us that is unaltered, they are not allowed to to daycare or come into contact with other dogs. If you have any questions/concerns about this rule please let us know. If you are interested in reading more about the spay/neuter debate, check out this article on the Whole Dog Journal. See more

Happy Sunday! This week we welcomed seven new pups to the Joyful Family! First was Raven, a 1-year-old Mutt who joined us for daycare. She was a little nervous at first, but warmed up to the group in no time. She still has plenty of crazy puppy energy that we are happy to help her get out during daycare! Our next two new dogs boarding were Niko and Aspen. Niko is an 8-year-old Lab Mix and his sister Aspen is a 3-year-old German Shepard Mix. Niko was fearless in the new enviro...nment and loved meeting new people and getting lots of love from the staff. Aspen was a little more reserved, but she followed her brothers lead and had fun playing with him outside. Another new daycare addition was a 2-year-old Pit Mix named Kodi. He was shy at first but is such a sweetheart! By the end of his first day he made a couple friends and we hope he comes back again to make more! Ally and Angel also boarded with us for the first time this week. They are both Black Labs and Ally is 12-years-old while her sister Angel is 9. These ladies are such sweeties and they had a blast getting pets from the staff and lounging during their sleepover. Last but not least was Madden, a 9-year-old Pitty who joined us for boarding. He was nervous in this new environment, but hopefully he will get more comfortable the more he stays with us. Please give our new kids a happy New Dog Sunday welcome!

And next was George, a 2-year-old Lab Mix, and his sister Envy, a 3-year-old Pit Mix. A Joyful Dog is back in the calendar business! We are in the process of making a 2021 calendar that features a bunch of the Joyful pups we have come to know and love. In the past we made and sold personalized calendars, but please note that this calendar IS NOT customizable. We are creating a version of a 12x12 wall calendar that will feature as many of your kids as possible! Unfortunately, not every dog that is a client of ours will be in the calendar. However, we are trying to feature as many as possible that are current and regular customers. As of now we do not know when we will be handing out the calendars, nor how much they will be. This is simply a "heads up" post as to what is coming your way some time next month. Once we have more details finalized we will be sure to let you know how to reserve a calendar of your own!

It's New Dog Sunday again already! This week we had three new pups join the Joyful Family. First we welcomed Stuart, a French Bulldog who is 11-months-old. He was super excited to come in and meet new humans, but he was a little shy around his new four-legged friends. After his first couple visits this week he got much more comfortable in daycare and is having a great time! Next was Nero, a 6-month-old Mixed Breed who also had his first day of daycare with us this week. He h...as a fearless puppy attitude and he had no trouble making new friends on his first day. We hope he comes back so we can keep up his socialization experience! And last but not least, our third new daycare addition was a 6-month-old Affenpinscher Mix named Mango! He is such a lovable goof and even though he was a little nervous on his first day, he loved hanging out with our group. Welcome all three pups to the Joyful crew!
