UPDATE: Meet Tyson and Rocky! We tried to adopt just Rocky but he cried and cried without Tyson so now we are looking for a family to adopt both together. Rocky is 10 yr. long haired Chi. Rocky is outgoing and friendly and good with kids. ... Tyson is 8 yr short haired brown and white Chi and weighs about 5 lbs. Tyson is more shy and unsure of other dogs and needs a quiet home without kids and other dogs besides Rocky! Both boys are neutered, UTD on vacs, on heartworm prevention. Nino is not an Acra dog, but trying to help him find a home. He is in Rochester shelter needs a home or a committed experience foster home. please share, update info: He’s a big goof that is a super dog player. He lacks confidence with people but finds comfort with other dogs . He originally needed a helper dog to get him out of his kennel. He’s had it very tough surrendered by someone who found him kept him for a month surrendered him because they worked 16 hour days.... He has bounced from one foster home because the son was allergic to him. Bounced out of another foster home because he was too strong and big he’s now so stressed that he needs a rescue to place him with aN experienced person with big dogs and how to properly decompress a dog . He loves treats knows sit down paw. Can be afraid of loud noises. Takes corrections from other dogs great. He is housebroken May need more work on crate training. Walks great on leash without distraction but when he sees a dog he just wants to get to them to sniff and greet them. He is very strong so he needs more work on that. We are sad to learn Acra has lost another angel, Sweet Maggie Mae gained her angel wings. Our prayers go out to the Paz family and Jake(Maddie Maes buddy), she was loved so very much. Thank you for being supporters of Acra & adopting an Acra angel

when i hear people saying they bought a puppy from a mill, and try saying they are Saving the puppy, or buying a puppy will have No affect , well you are wrong! whether in Tx, Ms, Oh, Pa OR NY, or dozens of other states, when YOU BUY A PUPPY FROM ANY MILL, You are NOT saving the Puppy, your decision WILL have an affect On every parent and ensures they continue to live in hell producing puppies for people keep buying the puppies! So frustrating and as a rescuer, it really gets old trying to convince people to NOT SHOP, ADOPT! Or go adopt a shelter dog!

10/13 Chas&stuart have been adopted Once again we are not a cat rescue however when some babies stumble onto our VP property we can’t say no to helping ( the feral mom has since been fixed & released ). Update: MARLEY IS ADOPTED! We thank everyone who inquired about Marley , we are currently not taking anymore apps due to the welcome over welcoming response. We try our very best to pick the best fitting home for both dog & family. Meet Sweet Marley! He is a 11 yr young male Yorkie. His ederly owner fell and can no longer care for him. He is coming to ACRA and being fostered until a new forever home is found. Marley is completely vetted: neutered, UTD on vacs, wormed, r...abie etc. Not sure about microchip but our rescue will provide that if Marley isnt chipped. He doesnt need to be crated but seems to like being inside as it is providing safety and security in his temporary home. He is fine around kids as his owner has grandchildren. Black Dog Syndrome is a phenomenon where black dogs are passed over for adoption in favor of lighter-colored animals. Black dogs are more likely to be euthanized in shelters regardless of their breed. National Black Dog Day encourages the adoption of a dog in the darker shades. Black dogs are less likely to be adopted for no other reason than their coloring.

Molly has arrived. She was surrendered to the shelter with her sister due to having parvo and owners unable to afford vetting. The pups are doing fine, finished meds and retested negative. Yah! Molly will be fostered until a loving forever home is found. She is only 4 mo old, beautiful markings with her white legs. Sweet happy playful girl. We have no idea of her breed mix, espcially with her ears layed back so hard to see what she really looks like until she arrives. But looks like a Boxer/lab mix.
