IMPORTANT The CD Wright Center, will be open on Saturday 7/20 from 2pm to 530pm, as a chill out Station. We will also be promoting our New Pool Safely Program..., which will run all summer long, on Pool and Spa Safety. A movie will be shown, informational hand outs, and Pool Watcher Badges will be given out ! So come out and chill with the C Dee Wright Center! Also - the Newstead Library will be open from 11am - 2pm, for your chilling !! Also - the Akron Newstead Senior Center will be open 5:30 - 8pm, for your chilling !

The C Dee Wright Center, hosted and event for the Newstead Library on July 23 @ 2pm, for ages 6 and up, called the Cosmic Adventures, Voyage to the Moon, due to... the filming. The kids learned moon facts inside a real planetarium. After the kids were done,, Greg Anderson gave the adults a preview of his program, and it was starrrr amazing !!! We traveled to the stars and back, saw the moon from the sky, explored the star names, and saw saturn, and wow what a wonderful program !!! If you ever have the chance, to go on a cosmic adventure with the TRAVELING PLANETARIUM do it !!! You will be STAR STRUCK !!! Thank You Kristen for sharing your wonderful program with us !!! Also their next program is Make a Terrarium with the Botanical Gardens, on July 23rd @ 2pm, for ages 5 and up, this will be at the Newstead Senior Center.

Hi All - New Programs for 2019-2020, I started at the C Dee Wright Community Center. " Get Connected at the Wright" Pups and Cups, Saturday June 29th from 10a...m-11am Bring your Dog and your coffee cup, and stop on by, to have a free cup of coffee on me, and see the wonderful new programs, that will be starting at the the C Dee Wright. Also, I have put together on Friday's mornings, starting in August, from 10am - 12noon, Hearts and Hands will be available for your help with your needs, on a weekly basis. So please if you need extra help, come on by, and see Tabitha. And a new Butterfly Garden will be developing behind the C Dee Wright Center, another new program connecting kids, students, adults and Seniors, to nature. So come on by and watch the butterfly's fly !!! Also, we will be collecting donations of books on butterfly's, to pass out to the young children, so they can learn about the life of a butterfly, and read the new book over the summer time. And we will be collecting donations to sponsor community benches, for residents to enjoy the gardens. There will be a Recycle & Reuse Create Night - which will focus on ideas of recycling & reusing items for a 2nd time, to help our enviroment. The ideas turn into items for pet toys, and other wonderful craft ideas . Bake A Treat Night, will be available for kids, teens and adults, making dog biscuits, that will be donated to all the Pet Food Clients. This will be a monthly event. NEW Post 6/29/19 - Back Pack Donation Drive for the Akron Elementary - High School Students. 75 - 100, New or Slightly new back packs are needed, for the Students. We will be collecting these at the C Dee Wright Center, every Saturday Morning during the Pups and Cups Event, from 10am-11am, and through out July and August, and all donations will be distributed at our August 22nd event, at Akron Newstead Alliance/Building Unity Through Community Event, from 5:30-7pm, at the Akron Newstead Senior Center. Coyotes caught on camera at a home in Mountain Brook going after a cat. It’s for real folks. Keep your cats inside at night. MB city council having a meeting this week to discuss the problem and what to do about it. So heartbreaking and scary.
