I have spent the last 23 year's healing and protecting my patients' health and wellbeing and it is with such deep sadness that I have to close my acupuncture practice due to COVID-19. I have transitioned to offering HIPAA compliant, online, telehealth alternative medicine consultations and personalized herbal prescriptions. Small, enclosed rooms are a major risk factor and combined with poor testing times (we need rapid, <10 min), a politicization of basic PPE and a large num...ber of immune compromised patients means that there is a risk of becoming a hotspot when the rolling wave hits upstate. I am not willing to play the probability game with my patients' health. COVID-19 is a terrible disease. I've experienced it within my own family. It killed my father after weeks of suffering and caused my mother, although she survived the infection, to have to live with the consequences of a COVID-19 induced stroke and severe lung damage. Please do not be complacent in the face of this viral threat. Be safe. Be smart. Take precautions.
