Lumigan is a prostaglandin analog designed to help people with glaucoma, which is a disease that causes an increase in pressure in the eye, which in turn causes the optic nerve to slowly decrease in strength and volume, until vision is lost. Lumigan can have an effect on this by allowing the fluid that creates the pressure in the eye to drain faster. However, another documented side effect has to do with the loss of volume in the upper eyelid and eye muscles. Thick and red incision lines are called hypertrophic scars.
