Right now it is legal in New York City to play pool in a bowling alley. But it is illegal to play pool in a pool room. This is ridiculous. Pool rooms are safer than bowling alleys (as well as ping pong parlors and gyms, which are also open). Governor Andrew Cuomo, please allow pool rooms in NYC to re-open and allow our almost 1,000 employees to go back to work!
Gyms are open in NYC. Bowling alleys are open in NYC. Restaurants are open in NYC. And now even ping pong parlors are open in NYC. But not pool rooms! This reminds us of the Key & Peele airport skit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhxlZC8BZJ4
This week marks SIX MONTHS since the 25 pool rooms in New York City (with more than 1,000 employees) were forced to close by Governor Cuomo. We are one of the few industries left that have not been allowed to re-open. Yesterday we Fed Ex'ed Governor Cuomo 25 sets of pool balls enclosed with letters explaining that we are as safe as bowling alleys and gyms (both of which has been allowed to re-open), and asking the Governor to allow us to re-open. Today, we are asking everyone... who cares about the survival of small businesses in NYC to please take a minute and email Governor Cuomo and tell him to allow pool rooms to re-open in New York City! EVEN IF YOU ALREADY SENT CUOMO AN EMAIL PREVIOUSLY, THIS IS A NEW EMAIL THAT NEEDS TO BE SENT ALSO. Just go to http://governor.ny.gov/contact and fill out your contact info. Choose a category (Jobs), and then cut and paste the paragraph below into the "Message" Box. It takes one minute. Please - if you can - do this TODAY: Governor Cuomo: Pool rooms allow for better social distancing than restaurants or bowling alleys. They can sanitize their equipment better than gyms. They can require masks, install six foot markers, and check temperatures. Pool rooms in New York City employ 1,000 hard-working men and women who need their jobs back. More than 3,500 New Yorkers have signed a petition on change.org asking you to allow pool rooms to re-open in New York City. Please make it happen! Thank you! Please share this and help spread the word to everyone you know who cares about saving small businesses in NYC. Thank you!
Dear Amsterdam Billiards Friends & Family, Last March 16, all pool rooms in New York City were closed due to Covid-19. SIX MONTHS LATER, we are one of the few industries that has still not been allowed to reopen! Please take 1 minute and email Governor Andrew Cuomo to allow pool rooms to re-open in New York City. Just go to http://governor.ny.gov/contact and fill out your contact info. Choose a category (Jobs), and then cut and paste the paragraph below into the "Message" Bo...x. It takes 1 minute. Please - if you can - do this TODAY. Governor Cuomo: There are 24 pool halls in New York City with 1,000 employees. You have allowed bowling alleys to re-open, but not pool halls. This doesn’t make sense. We both offer similar indoor entertainment. We both easily allow for social distancing and the wearing of masks. More than 3,000 New Yorkers have signed a petition on change.org asking you to please allow pool halls to re-open in New York City. Please allow our 1,000 employees go back to work again! Thank you! Help spread the word to everyone you know who cares about saving small businesses in NYC. Thank you Best, Amsterdam Billiards Management

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will be rescheduling all major events originally scheduled for the month of March. We thank you for your interest in Jeanette Lee "The Black Widow"’s One-Woman Exhibition event that was set for Friday, March 27th. As some of you may already know, Jeanette is currently hospitalized in Florida. She is one of our own and one of the brightest stars in our billiards community who could really use some support right now! Please keep Jeanette in y...our prayers and if you can, take a little time to send her an uplifting or funny message of support to let her know that her fans around the world are thinking of her. On behalf of Jeanette and her family, we thank you all very much for your well wishes in advance. Once Jeanette is recovered and ready, we will announce a new date for her exhibition event so that The Black Widow can share her experiences and expertise with you all.
Dear Amsterdam Billiards Friends & Family, In our 30 year history, the safety and well-being of our staff and patrons have always been of highest priority. In light of COVID-19 concerns in our community, we will remain closed for business to do our part in social distancing to aid in our nation’s preventative efforts. We anticipate remaining closed until given the green light by Governor Cuomo on behalf of NYS. For the time being, keep your minds sharp, your stroke smooth, yo...ur balls sanitized, food and ‘liquid essentials’ stocked, and be safe, everyone! We encourage everyone to visit the CDC website to stay aware of recommended preventative measures and to receive accurate and up-to-date information regarding the coronavirus: CDC.gov Best, Amsterdam Billiards Management
