Hi everyone, Let me start by wishing all of you a Happy and Healthy New Year! We have evaluated the current situation with regard to the Covid-19 virus and have decided to postpone Joan's Day of Celebration at Ananda Ashram to Sunday, August 29th. I am hopeful that by that time our lives will have taken a turn toward normalcy. As we get closer to that date I will advise you of any further details.... As for the near future, additional new talks of Joan's from 2005 and 2006 will be placed on the website meditationreadings.com. This is the result of finding unpublished talks on audio cassettes and converting them to a publishable format. As they become available additional talks from other years will be placed on the website as well. As I noted previously, Ananda Ashram is presenting a new talk every 2 weeks on its YouTube page You will be able to listen to it for a 4 week period. The link is Ananda Ashram YouTube channel. PART 2 - Legendary Verses in Sanskrit: Subhhitas -- A Five-Class Series with Deven Patel * Fri, Jan 15 to Fri, Feb 12 Each Friday evening 5:00 - 6:00 PM Eastern Time... Tuition by Open Donation; Suggested $20/session Register for Entire Series or Subhhita is a literary genre of Sanskrit poems or verses, also called aphorisms or maxims. Su in Sanskrit means good and bhhita means spoken, which together means "well-spoken," or "an eloquent saying." Subhhitas are short, memorable verses, usually in four pdas (feet or lines), having a particular meter. There are tens of thousands of Subhhitas derived from ancient and medieval Indian literature, covering a vast range of subjects including humor, sarcasm, politics, love, wealth, daily life, ethics, spirituality, science, riddles, language and art. Join Professor Deven Patel for one or more delightful sessions examining some of these Subhhitas. Teacher and students will collectively work on translating the verses and discuss their meaning.
