HOW SAFE IS A SAFE DEPOSIT BOX? A recent robbery of a bank in Queens, New York begs the question of how safe your valuables actually are in a bank? The decision to store these important items is a prudent one if you believe that a safe deposit box at your local bank is the best place to store you valuable items. People believe that these boxes are your best defense against crime, fire, flood, and terrorism. THEY ARE WRONG!... Banks have witnessed a rash of recent safe deposit burglaries perpetrated against numerous financial institutions in the greater New York City area. A thorough understanding of the circumstances of the incident, establishing the bank’s level of liability promptly, full cooperation between a bank and their insurers, and dealing with customers claim as quickly as possible are the key factors involved in successfully litigating and settling safe deposit robbery claims. Ultimately experience in this field is critical in trying to be made whole after suffering such a tragic loss. Our firm is on the forefront of these types of litigations and is currently one of the largest plaintiff safe deposit loss victim firms in the United States. http://abc7ny.com//thieves-break-into-queens-bank/1351473/

From Miami to Montauk, the Department of Treasury would like to see your beach house! The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCen), a bureau of The United States Treasury Department, has issued Geographic Targeting Orders (GTO) that will temporarily require title insurance companies to identify the names and social security numbers of the natural persons behind LLC's and other opaque structures that are used as shell companies to purchase high end residential real estate... Reporting will be required on "All Cash" purchases of residential properties that exceed $3,000,000 in Manhattan and the Hamptons and $1,000,000 in Miami-Dade County. The GTO will remain in effect from March 1, 2016 through August 27, 2016 with the possibility of being extended depending upon what the policy uncovers. All reporting to FinCen will be done using IRS Form 8300.
