Angkor Cambodian Bistro 04.11.2020

We first envisioned Angkor during our travels through Southeast Asia, after parting ways with our first restaurant of 20 years, realizing little to no Cambodian representation in New York’s global food-scape. When we first got serious about opening Angkor, our goal was just to give it a try and bring a taste of Cambodia to the people that we knew would appreciate it, New Yorkers. The reception we received over our five years in the UES has been beyond anything we could have h...oped for. You warmly welcomed us into this neighborhood, which we quickly grew to love. We loved the neighborhood so much that we moved into a tiny apartment upstairs. We have so much to be thankful for in particular, our recognition by The Michelin Guide as a Bib Gourmand establishment. The award is most certainly one of our proudest achievements as lifelong chefs, restaurateurs, and foodies; and we owe it all to you, our guests and neighbors. This restaurant and our guests have brought us so much joy over the past five years. But we must sadly come to terms that the current crisis is not something we can weather. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce on August 1 we will close this chapter of our story and say goodbye to our home in the UES. A million thanks for your support over the years. We will miss all of this. Minh & Mandy

We still think Angkor Wat is the main attraction, but check out these off the beaten path places as well. Happy exploring and eating!

There is so much to be thankful for today, especially our wonderful guests who have given us endless support over the past year. Our goal from the start has been to introduce New Yorkers to the delicate flavors of Cambodian cuisine - we thank you for your open minds and open hearts. ICYMI, your support has earned us a spot on 2017's Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand list for NYC! http://michelinmedia.com/c0/nyc-bib-gourmands-2017/... Wishing you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! - Minh and Mandy

Thank you so much Manhattan Sideways for capturing in a nutshell what we hope all of our guests walk away with (and come back for). A satisfying meal, a nice conversation, and a greater sense of what Cambodian cuisine has to offer.
