On this #NationalFarmersDay were thankful to be able to wake up everyday and continue doing what we love whether it’s being out in the barn with these beautiful ladies, or out in the field working to feed them year round! We wouldn’t have it any other way!
Meet Juno, our newest employee! Juno is a robotic feed pusher that runs hourly to push feed up for our cows to make sure they always have access to it!
The choppers are finished with corn, and the combining begins! With such a dry year this year we’re lucky to be able to get an early start in the fields combining!
Chasing the sunset tonight with corn harvest!
It’s been a busy week on the farm, but we are close to the end of chopping corn. Then comes 4th cutting of grass/alfalfa.
Corn harvest is in full swing! We’re lucky to have a bountiful harvest this year despite having some dry weather throughout the summer. This corn will he stored in our ‘bunks’ or big pantry until it’s feed to our cows over the next year until next years harvest!
Building a huge mountain of chopped corn and enjoying lovely views at the same time.
Corn chopping has begun! Just a few short months ago we were planting corn, and now it’s already time to harvest! Once in the bunk the corn will be packed into the bunks and covered to ferment, in a process similar to pickling, for at least 3 months before feeding it to our cows!
Consider supporting this years Columbia Greene 4-H Livestock Sale, on Wednesday September 2nd at Trowbridge Farms! Despite all that has happened this year these awesome kids have persevered and raised some phenomenal animals. What better way to support a group of hardworking young individuals while feeding your family at the same time!
A great way to incorporate some different learning into a classroom this year!!
We finished 2nd cutting this week. We were treated to an exciting visit from 2 bald eagles during our operation. Such an impressive sight!
The corn is definitely happy!
