OTD: May 9, 1969 #Grumman getting ready for #apollo10 launch on May 18th, 1969. Apollo 10 was the fourth crewed mission Apollo program, and the second to orbit the Moon a "dress rehearsal" for the first Moon landing, testing all the components and procedures just short of actually landing. Crew members included Astronauts, Thomas Stafford, Eugene Cernan, and John Young. Tom Stafford was our special guest at our Nov 2019 Gala. #apollo #grumman #lunarmodule #lunarmodulepilot #apolloprogram

Remembering #Apollo16. Last year at our 50th Anniversary Dinner, Charlie Duke (Lunar Module Pilot) who had made multiple visits to Grumman in Bethpage for many years as an astronaut remarked, I was really and always impressed with esprit de corp, the work ethic of all the Grumman employees. We really got along together well. Grumman did a really really great job. Gave me the ride of my life, especially the ascent stage. If you listen to that transcript, What a ride, what a ride. And that took us back into orbit again. We had a tremendous spacecraft and it’s all do the hard work of these workers And the support we got. #grumman #lunarmodule #spacehistory #charlieduke #lm #lem #whataride #spacelflight #spaceexploration #gratitude #apolloprogram #apollo #museumfromhome

Learn all about the basics of sky watching: using one set of stars to find another, learning the difference between a star and planet in the sky, and enjoying some stories of the stars. #EducatorTom will guide you through this week’s sky with humor and confidence (in that order) as he introduces kids and grown-ups alike to the lighter side of the night sky.
This week remembering Apollo 16, the fifth mission to land men on the moon and return them to Earth. It was also the second flight of the Lunar Roving Vehicle. Apollo 16 landed in a highlands area, a region not yet explored on the Moon. #museumfromhome #apollo16 #spaceexplorationvehicle #spacenerdsforlife #lunarrover #lunarvehichle
