Apollo 10 was the fourth crewed mission Apollo program, and the second to orbit the Moon a "dress rehearsal" for the first Moon landing, testing all the components and procedures just short of actually landing. OTD: On April 27, 1972, #apollo16 crew John Young, Charles Duke, and Ken Mattingly. Apollo 16 was the second expedition to bring a Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) along. The astronauts spent more than 20 hours exploring the surface of the Moon, driving 16.6 miles in their LRV, gathering 210 pounds of samples, and setting up a package of instruments and experiments. #museumfromhome #apolloprogram #lunarrover #spacehistory #nasa #otd Image may contain: sky Image may contain: one or more people, ocean, outdoor and water

Remembering #Apollo16. Last year at our 50th Anniversary Dinner, Charlie Duke (Lunar Module Pilot) who had made multiple visits to Grumman in Bethpage for many years as an astronaut remarked, I was really and always impressed with esprit de corp, the work ethic of all the Grumman employees. We really got along together well. Grumman did a really really great job. Gave me the ride of my life, especially the ascent stage. If you listen to that transcript, What a ride, what a ride. And that took us back into orbit again. We had a tremendous spacecraft and it’s all do the hard work of these workers And the support we got. #grumman #lunarmodule #spacehistory #charlieduke #lm #lem #whataride #spacelflight #spaceexploration #gratitude #apolloprogram #apollo #museumfromhome

This week remembering Apollo 16, the fifth mission to land men on the moon and return them to Earth. It was also the second flight of the Lunar Roving Vehicle. Apollo 16 landed in a highlands area, a region not yet explored on the Moon. #museumfromhome #apollo16 #spaceexplorationvehicle #spacenerdsforlife #lunarrover #lunarvehichle
