The Albany Police Department communications division has advertised for employment. They are also tasked with dispatching for the Albany Fire Department. This is a great job for someone interested in the emergency services field, as many of our firefighters have once been employed as a telecommunications specialists. B platoon crews are working a house fire in the 200 block of Clinton Ave in the Arbor Hill neighborhood. Initial reports of someone trapped. Arriving companies reporting fire on the #2 floor of an occupied multiple dwelling

There has been a fund set up in our brother Ed Person’s name at the Albany Fireman’s Federal Credit Union. 100% of all donations will go to Ed’s family to help them in their time of need. The Albany Firefighters Union is reminding all residents and business owners to please assist us in shoveling out the City’s Fire Hydrants! The hydrants are buried underneath about 2 feet of snow, and companies are deployed around the city digging out hydrants, help us help you! Below is an example of what we are working on today. C platoon Firefighter/EMT/Paramedics from the Midtown Station are working a person shot in the area of Elk St and Quail St. Please avoid the area, as it is an active scene

Funeral arrangements for our Brother Firefighter Eddie Person are as follows: Viewing hours: from 1600 hours to 1900 hours this Thursday Oct. 22nd at the Church of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St in Albany. Funeral directors: Daniel Keenan ... Funeral: due to COVID restrictions and limited occupancy due to NYS regulations, only close family will be allowed into the church. Firefighters wishing to attend will be mustering outside. A memorial account has been set up at the Albany Firemen's Federal Credit Union for Eddie’s wife and two children if you wish to send donations. We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support that has been shown to our members as we navigate Eddies loss.

It is with profound sadness and disbelief that we announce the unexpected passing of active Firefighter Edward Eddie Person on Saturday October 17th while he was off duty. Eddie was not only a dedicated and skilled firefighter, assigned to the Rescue Squad D platoon, but was regarded as truly one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet and interact with on or off the job. He was a dedicated union member and the definition of a brother to everyone on our job. Eddie served hi...s country honorably in the United States Army prior to his employment with the Albany Fire Department on September 6th 2006. His dedicated service to residents and visitors of Albany for the past 14 years was enhanced by several years of special operations training and experience while assigned to the Rescue Squad, stationed out of the Arbor Hill Fire Station. While our members deal with the pain and disbelief of losing our brother Eddie, we ask that you keep his wife and two children in your thoughts as they deal with this unimaginable loss.

Earlier this morning C Platoon companies responded to an Alarm of Fire on the 400 Block of Clinton Avenue. Companies quickly knocked the fire down with no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

Early this morning, A platoon crews at the West Hill station (engine Co 7) were woken to gun fire, subsequently Albany Firefighter/EMT/Paramedics were dispatched for a man shot on Clinton Ave in the same area. Crews found a man with several life threatening gun shot wounds, treated and rapidly transported the PT to an area hospital. This shooting occurred in front of the Schuyler Achievement Academy where bullet holes were also noted in the school.

Please, don’t steal our fire apparatus, we need them. Thanks! In all seriousness, if you saw anything, please contact the Colonie Police Department who are heading up the investigation

On behalf of the APOU I would like to say thank you to our fellow union brothers and sisters from National Grid and the City of Albany Department of General Ser...vices. These men and women did a tremendous job over the last several days working on storm cleanup and restoring power as as quickly as possible. These men and women dedicated countless hours away from their families in an effort to return our homes to normal. I would also like to commend the men and women of the Albany Permanent Professional Firefighters Association Local 2007 on the fantastic job they did over the last several days, from the numerous calls during the storm, to EMS calls and the recent structure fires. The men and women of the APOU from patrol to our dispatchers have also worked extremely hard over the last several days. Each one of these men and women have represented the City with pride and provided a level of service second to none. Thank you, Gregory McGee President APOU

B platoon Truck 3 is reporting heavy smoke showing from 6 Brevator St which is a multi family dwelling. Now putting in the 2-2-2 alarm with multiple victims and rescues being reported. Engine Co 10 reporting someone trapped on the #2 floor, attempting rescue now

Early this morning, A platoon companies responded to the 500 block of Clinton Ave for a house fire. Crews found fire in the rear of a house and rapidly extinguished the fire before it spread to any exposures. Just another example of how a rapid response of trained and professionally staffed apparatus and personnel make a difference every day in Albany!
