A Real Place

We don't know who we're talking to online. So we're building a Real Place - where people talk to each other face-to-face in real-life. You can see it here: http://arealplace.com It's getting boring talking through computers. The Internet is where computers meet - Humans will soon have a Real Place. We've no idea who made this brilliant meme - but that's the problem with the Internet - you don't know what's real - and who is real.

I don’t like Politics - of course we need it - but something important is missing from it - that’s us - ‘We the people’ somehow got left out. Now, when politicians say We - who do they actually mean? Personally, I like to speak for myself. We do have a right to Free Speech - but we don’t yet have a place to go to talk freely - in real-life. So we’re building a modern version of the Forum of the Ancients. It’s a place where people go to talk to each other face-to-face - in r...eal-life. Is talking to each other through computers bad for us? We make war at great distance - we make peace face-to-face. The Internet has driven us apart - we hope to bring people back together again - in a Real Place. The Forum of the Ancients is where Democracy began - we want to re-invent that simple idea of a meeting place. Our civilisation doesn’t have one anymore. Who has the most control over our lives? Fortunately it’s us - and not politicians. We want a place to talk about the things that are important to us. We call that Personal Democracy. We might want to talk about family - or that ancient question of how we live our lives. We may not want to discuss ‘Politics’ at all - but we want to give the People the freedom to decide.
