March Matness Open Leg Rocker. This one is definitely not my fav post partum exercise, so I’m showing just the prep. My sacrum has decided that it now likes to live on the diagonal, so anything in this V position feels askew. Instead, I’m focusing on maintaining the length of my spine while extending one leg at a time. Once that feels secure, see if you can maintain both legs in that position. Tips... -if your hamstrings are tight, work on establishing that length first. (I like PNF stretching). -reach through the crown of the head to maintain the length in your spine when your legs extend. -for those with a DR, this can be a hit or miss position. If you feel your abdominals doming in this position, especially because of the tiny bit of lumbar flexion, back off. -PS- spine stretch forward is a similar (though not exactly the same) position with a different relationship to gravity. #articulatingbody #postpartumfitness #postpartumpilates #openlegrocker

March Matness: Spine Stretch Forward. No modifications necessary for this one, post-partum mamas. After the pregnancy waddle, birth, carrying the baby, the car seat, the baby bag plus the car seat plus the baby and a water bottle and a computer so you can zoom and possibly also the kitchen sink, my back needs a GOOD stretch. ... Remember to keep your muscles active rather than collapse into the stretch. I like to imagine I am curving my spine over a large beach ball. (I have long hamstrings and my lumbar spine does not like to flex, so This is an easy one for me to cheat). Sound on for V cracking up. #articulatingbody #marchmatness #marchmatness2021 #mmthankyou #postpartumpilates #pilatesafterbaby
