"Hi guys! I'm Liv, one of the graphic designers here at the ASC. To de-stress this semester, I've been doing my own graphic design projects that aren't for work or for school. It keeps me in a creative mindset, but I can still focus on things that I love while practicing my skills!" #ASCatRIT

Remember that it’s okay to sit back and relax. You don’t always have to be productive. That’s just not sustainable. When I want to disconnect and just relax, I usually grab my Switch or my 3DS. The key to truly relaxing is to remind yourself that you deserve it. You deserve to take care of yourself. Remember that life is not all about work. This concludes my ASC takeover. I hope you found some of my tips helpful! // 5/5 ASCatRIT

When I’m feeling overwhelmed I like to make a plan and reward myself for following through with that plan. I write down all the things I need to get done - big and small. Picking small items first and checking them off my list helps me feel accomplished. It reminds me that I’ve been through this before and that I will get it all done. I like to use Google Keep for my To-do lists, but you should use whatever works for you. Finally, don’t forget to reward yourself for getting all that work done. It’s important to have something to look forward to! // Yan Diaz 4/5 #ASCatRIT

Many students think they have to get things done in one sitting, which is just not right! In fact, I think it’s actually beneficial to work on assignments in small increments. When I’m given an assignment, I like to read the entire thing and then walk away. I let my subconscious start thinking about it. When I finally sit down to start the assignment, I split it into multiple parts and tackle them in the span of up to five days. This obviously requires that you start your as...signments early, so make sure you do that! But it also allows you to step away from the problem when you get stuck. The answer might be a lot clearer when you wake up the next morning! // Yan Diaz 3/5 #ASCatRIT Image credit: https://buff.ly/347YrY2

Get some good sleep! Yes, I know you think you don’t have time to sleep because you’re a college student, or maybe you think you’re part of the small percentage of the population who doesn’t need as much sleep. Look at the statistics; you’re probably wrong. Getting more and better sleep will make you more efficient. It’ll help you think more clearly and you’ll find yourself hitting your head on the table a little less frequently. It is scientifically proven that you learn more when you get better sleep! Find a list of tips to get better sleep and set personal goals for yourself. If you want to go hard, I’d recommend reading this book. Regardless of your approach, just make sure you commit to giving yourself the sleep you need and deserve. // Yan Diaz 2/5 #ASCatRIT

Hey! My name is Yancarlos Diaz, but most people call me Yan. I’m in my sixth year at RIT (yikes) in the Computer Science BS/MS program. Outside of classes, I like to play volleyball, read, and watch all sorts of shows. It is now my turn to take over the ASC social media for the week! A little bit about my role in the ASC: I worked as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Computer Science I and II and now I’m a mentor in the program. As a mentor, I provide guidance and help facilitate training for new SI Leaders. I also observe some SI sessions and try to help our SI leaders become even better leaders! // Yan Diaz 1/5 #ASCatRIT

De-stressing is key to a smooth semester. The media team at the ASC is keeping stress away by prioritizing self care and of course, fun! "Hi guys! My name is Jane, and I’m a third-year New Media Design student, and also one of the designers here at the ASC. To de-stress this semester, I’ve been making sure all of my needs are fulfilled since it’s easy to forget to take care of yourself. For me, even putting on makeup in the morning and eating a nice breakfast can help me push through the day!" #ASCatRIT

Before sitting down to work, ask yourself, am I hungry? Tired? Dehydrated? Taking care of those basic needs will give your body and mind the energy it needs to tackle that assignment. #ASCatRIT
