After last nights monthly Oliver Street Merchants Meeting, we had the opportunity to get a tour of the North Tonawanda History Museum (712 Oliver St) by their director, Howard Roeske. IT.WAS.NEAT. Organized in a timeline, you start to understand all the incredible milestones & accomplishments that took place within North Tonawanda; including Industry, Art, Entertainment, & more. Although I was born in the 90’s, its easy to understand what kind of impact our Great City has made on the world over hundreds of years. Thank you to Howard, the donors, & all the volunteers who have kept our City’s History alive!

Last week I brought forth a resolution for the common council to call on our County Legislature for financial support in the amount of $1,000,000, and tonight we passed it unanimously. Based on a 2019 audit, the county legislature has approximately $25,000,000 in unassigned fund balance (reserves) and with such a decrease in our current/projected sales tax revenue, the $1,000,000 could help our city immensely. This is a great opportunity for our county legislators to step up... and help their communities out. I would recommend contacting our North Tonawanda Legislators and seeing what they can do to help our financial state. To North Tonawanda Residents, Tonight (October 13th @6pm) The Common Council will be holding a Public Hearing on proposed Local Law No. 1 of the year 2020 entitled A Local Law of the City of North Tonawanda, New York to override the Tax Levy Limit established in the General Municipal Law Section 3-c. It is required that we go through this process in order to potentially pass this local law. It is still uncertain if the City will have to override the tax cap and if so, what... that increase may be. Its my understanding that a draft budget for 2021 will be presented at tonights meeting that may indicate any changes in the tax levy. Unfortunately council meetings are still not open for public attendance... but was requested that the public be able to comment or ask questions during tonights meeting with the provided Zoom Link below. Please join the link at 6pm and wait to be called on for comment.
