Australian scientists with CSIRO have taken us another step closer to producing an effective vaccine for COVID-19. Most vaccines under development are modelled on the original ‘D-strain’ of SARS-CoV-2, which has evolved to the globally dominant ‘G-strain’. There were fears that vaccines under development might not work as well on the new strain, however, researchers found the vaccine candidates are still effective. Dr S.S. Vasan, CSIRO’s Dangerous Pathogens Team Le...ader and the senior author of the paper, said this is good news for the hundreds of vaccines in development around the world. We are saddened to hear of the passing of 'I Am Woman’ singer, Helen Reddy. Your roar will be forever heard. Reddy was the first Australian-born artist to win a Grammy and the first to make the Billboard 100 record charts Born in Australia to entertainer parents, Reddy won a singing contest for a trip to New York and decided to stay in the US. After a string of 1970s hits including Delta Dawn and You and Me Against the World, Reddy stepped out of the spotlight. After s...eeing her name and the lyrics to her Grammy-winning anthem 'I Am Woman' in a school textbook, she said: I’m part of history how do I top that?.
