As part of our tribute to women this month, we celebrate our partnership with Habitat for Humanity and their affiliate in Gwinnett, GA, near Atlanta. We recently donated the roof for a new home they built for Tatiana Anderson, a former Army specialist who served in South Korea on active duty and then in the Army Reserve. Amber Hayes of our Superior Distribution branch in Conyers, GA help coordinate the donated materials for Tatiana’s new roof. Over 25 women helped with this H...abitat home including the national Habitat Veterans Build manager, Gwinnett Habitat program director and volunteer coordinator along with crew leaders, construction and hospitality volunteers. Tatiana says she is happy to have a strong and stable roof over her head! SRS Women’s Leadership Forum and Raise the Roof Foundation recently donated $10,000 to the Purple Purse through their Kendra Gives Back fundraising events. This project, endorsed by National Women in Roofing (NWiR), helps provide women who have dealt with domestic violence situations with job-search services, including opportunities in the roofing industry. Michelle Boykin of NWiR said: This is amazing! 2020 was an especially difficult year for domestic violence survivors to build their financial independence. What a wonderful blessing SRS is to so many of them!

Alfred Guerra, a 94-year-old WWII Veteran, Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, was in desperate need of home restoration in San Antonio, Texas. Food insecurity is a real concern for many families, especially in 2020. The Community Food Pantry of McKinney is a nonprofit outreach program that addresses this critical problem by providing food to families who are in crisis.
