What a crazy year it has been... for the whole world! We would like to thank all of our partners - from all of the first response agencies, Cayuga Health System, the Tompkins County Health Department, Tompkins County Department of Emergency Reponses, local law enforcement agencies and also to all the local businesses and citizens that helped us through the peak of the onset of COVID. As with nearly all EMS services across the country, during the first several months of COVI...D with people staying in and region wide shut downs in effect, this had a direct correlation with our call volume. This year we provided a total of 9,142 ambulance responses which was down from the previous year. The bulk of this drop was during March and April during the shut downs. We are pretty much back to a 'normal' call volume now. Thank you everyone! Stay safe and wear a mask!

In honor of national bosses day we want to take a minute to recognize our amazing boss Tim Bangs and the huge company milestone we have hit under his leadership. Bangs Ambulance is celebrating 75 years of service to our community! Company founders Rita and John Bangs ran their first call in October 1945 when Rita borrowed a hearse from John to fill a need she noticed in the community. In the early years Bangs Ambulance was mainly staffed by John and Rita alone, and eventually... all seven of their children would help out as well. Over the last 75 years, Bangs Ambulance has grown from transporting patients in the back of a hearse, to a family of over 90 employees with a fleet of ten ambulances and multiple support vehicles providing services to the Ithaca community. Tim Bangs, following in his parents’ footsteps, has kept family at the company’s core while running the ambulance alongside his daughters Courtney and Meghan. Bangs Ambulance is committed to providing the finest quality of patient care through our team of highly skilled professionals; from our family to yours, thank you for letting us continue to serve this community!

Announcement from Cayuga Medical Center: Due to the forecast of inclement weather with high winds, the Sampling Site will be closed for the next two days (Thurs...day 4/30 and Friday 5/1). To ensure that sampling is still as available as possible to our communities, the Sampling Site will be open this Saturday (5/2) from 10 am - 3 pm. This week Governor Cuomo announced that essential workers may seek testing. Having the site open on Saturday will allow more essential workers who want a test to get one. Individuals who are symptomatic or may have been in close contact with a positive case should be tested. Individuals can register at www.cayugahealth.org. While the Sampling Site will be closed Thursday and Friday, the Call Center will still be open. The number for the Call Center is 607-319-5708. We apologize for any inconvenience.
