Diversity is more than learning that people are different. It’s learning and celebrating all of our differences. We don’t shy away from our differences because acknowledging them is uncomfortable. We do the work. We find out about our students and we spend time being scholars. - Alyssa N. Haymore
#eLibraryspotlight: B IS FOR BREATHE It has been an ultimate goal to write a children's book. As a mom and psychologist, I have learned that it is ever so important that healthy coping skills are discussed and promoted for children at an early age. It was also important that I write a book with characters that reflected images of my children. In fact, my kids (ages 6, 4, and 2) helped develop this book by sharing their own cool ideas about the characters and ways they like... to express and cope with fussy and frustrating feelings. I hope this book is a blessing to your child or to a child that you know. Whether it is deep breathing, muscle relaxation, art, or writing about emotions, it is fun to try different calm down strategies and techniques to help a child find their own special way of coping with emotions. - Melissa Munro Boyd, PsyD, ABPP Barbershopbooks.org/eLibrary
