My name is Mia Flowers and I am a Sophomore at Barnard working as Community Assistant here at Student Life! I get to plan all the cool identity based meetups and occasionally help the program assistance with other events that are happeni...ng. On campus I am on Columbia's first Latinx dance troupe, Sabor in addition to the Columbia University Black Theater Ensemble! All great orgs you should definitely check out! I love swimming, listening to music, cooking, and making people happy! Happy Womxn's Wednesday! This Wednesday we'd like to highlight Nupol Kiazolu, the 20-year-old president of Black Lives Matter Greater New York. Nupol first got involved with activism when she was just 13 when she wore a black hoodie to school with the words, "Do I look suspicious?" on it in the wake of Trayvon Martin’s murder. Since then she's continued on to be president of the youth coalition of BLM Greater NYC where she helped draft legislation and support grassroots candi...dates that support the cause. She's continued to do this as President of BLM Greater NYC, where most recently she organized some of the largest George Floyd protests in the city, drawing more than 15,000 people to a march on June 2. Nupol is not showing any signs of slowing down, continuing to fight back and help others. We look forward to seeing what she does next! #WomxnsWednesday #BarnardStudentLife
