Hear from Dr. Kathy Kehoe-Biggs, a clinical consultant at Tree House. Dr. Kehoe-Biggs provided individual grief counseling and ran grief support groups for adults, children, and adolescents. In this video she offers advice for talking to children and teens who are suffering from grief. Dr. Kehoe-Biggs advises people to not worry about saying the right thing, but rather to be persistent in their desire to help the child - kids love to see you sweat.Often we can become obsessed with finding the exact right thing to say to someone suffering from grief but Dr. Kehoe-Biggs reminds us that this is different for everyone and the best thing we can aspire for is empathy.

When suffering from grief, it is important for children to express themselves in whichever way works best for them. Children can have a tendency to keep their emotions and thoughts inside, so at the Tree House we encourage children to express themselves through words, art, and play. #childrengriefawareness

Children experience grief in different ways. At Tree House we help each child find personalized methods of grieving. It may take a little time to discover what works and what doesn’t but Tree House is there every step of the way. #childrensgriefawareness #childrensgriefawarenessday

It is important to support our children and lift them up so they can overcome. Please share with others to spread awareness about children’s grief.

The Tree House is often called to work with school communities who are dealing with grief. Here a high school guidance counselor, Jim Agnello, shares his own experience working with the Tree House and how our assistance enhanced their school community. He encourages others to help us help them by donating. Donate today at bcwtreehouse.org
