Say Hi to Bernie Slovinsky! Bernie was one of Albert’s carpenters in the 1980’s. She built the Theater and she also hand sanded the floors of the Peterson House with wire wool. Every plank of it! Bermie is in the black and white photograph on the left hand side!

Tie-dyeing was popular with people who opposed the Vietnam war. During the late 1960s, conservative rules of appearance fell away as many people began to appreciate arts and crafts, simplicity, and traditional ways of making things. Tie-dye combined personal creativity and bright designs to create low-cost clothing. To make a fashionable tie-dyed T-shirt, you wrap strings around crumpled shirts and dunk them in vats of dye. Jimi Hendrix and John Sebastian wore tie-dye on sta...ge, increasing its popularity. Janis Joplin was said to sleep on tie-dyed satin sheets. Tie-dye has remained a symbol of the 1960’s - people who reject established society, and who participated in live music, psychedelic drugs, and antiwar marches. And we have created a fabulous collection of tie-dye Bearsville Merchandise to celebrate its history. Available in our online store: https://shop.bearsvilletheater.com/ See more

Our awesome selection of Bearsville T-shirts have all been designed with a real meaning behind them. This is our 'Barn T'. Bearsville Theater is housed in an old Dutch barn, one of the oldest and rarest designs of barns in the US, where probably fewer than 600 still exist. Albert Grossman originally had the Theater barn raised so that a basement could be dug, and then lowered again. It’s a magnificent building - we are proud of our barn and show it off on this T-shirt. Tony Jackson may have released his first album in 2017, but he's a proud throwback to classic country. His lean music is rooted in a blend of hardcore honky tonk and Bakersfield, a sound that evokes the past, and Jackson leans into that comparison by establishing his country cred with a cover of George Jones' classic "The Grand Tour." Jackson's version for YouTube turned into a minor viral sensation and was the centerpiece of his 2017 debut, which also featured covers of Conw...ay Twitty ("It's Only Make Believe") and the Lovin' Spoonful ("Nashville Cats"). We are delighted to be welcoming Tony to the Bearsville Theater stage Feb 3, 2021. And he will be joined by a host of legendary artists from the Woodstock era. This is a one night only event, and not to be missed, as legends of music come together! Live Stream tickets are on sale now.
