Just down the street. The Grandin is an easy walk from our church.

I was excited to get going on some painting yesterday afternoon. But the evening got colder and it dropped to 0 degrees during the night. It was extremely cold in the morning but it has warmed up to 20 degrees (10:30 am). If I can get the upstairs warmed up some more I'll be able to get back to painting and get these two rooms done. With half of the upstairs gutted, the insulation at the moment is not good. Hence, cold house.

This will be an interesting year here in Palmyra, New York. We will soon have rooms ready to rent out. We know that there were be a significant amount of visitors. Accommodations will be hard to come by. Drop me a line and see if we have a room or two available for you to rent. We really have an amazing location.

Wow, this is the most posting I've done in a long time. For my final message tonight I'll tell you about tomorrow, it's my birthday. I will be at the Palmyra Community Center at 5:30 a.m. Then it's off to Denny's for my Grand Slam Birthday breakfast. Hustle home to meet with the contractors. I'll probably head out in the afternoon to buy primer and paint. And I'll spend the next couple of days painting a bedroom and bathroom. Good Night. Drop me a line.

This was one of two partial chimneys that were used with old fashioned heating stoves upstairs. The partial chimneys were taking up space and inhibiting the usefulness of the rooms. I've saved as much of the bricks as possible for another use. I dunno, maybe paver walkways or fire pits or something.

At this point, the bathroom was mostly demo'd. There was a small hallway leading to the bathroom and the adjacent bedroom. We reconfigured things, closed off the entrance to the small hallway, added the small hallway to the new bathroom en suite. And it is looking GREAT. There are just a couple things left to do. And we're also waiting on an ordered item. But, yes, I will get finished photos up.

Okay, I decided to go ahead and get some more photos up. This was from a couple months ago. Question: How do you remove a cast iron tub after a heart attack? Answer: One piece at a time.

These are a few of the 130 year old timbers salvaged from the walls of the Beehive Farmhouse while doing some demo upstairs and remodeling. I am absolutely saving all the great old wood that I can.

A project that I am quite excited about is a kitchen island that I'm working on in the shop. For the first 120 years of its existence, it was an altogether different type of furniture. I'll get some photos and see if anyone can guess what it was. If I forget/neglect to get photos posted, someone get after me and remind me.

For the nearly completed upstairs bathroom, my wife had a particular type of vanity in mind. I built the vanity from 130 year old timbers salvaged from this house during the upstairs demo. I'll get some photos.

Happy Abe Lincoln's birthday. Wow, almost halfway into February. This will be an interesting year. In addition to getting some interesting projects underway in the workshop, we have been going strong on the upstairs remodel. We're on the verge of completing one bedroom with en suite bathroom and we've started on the next bedroom with en suite. It's pretty exciting to see the progress on these rooms.
