In this latest Q&A on the pandemic, Dr. David Liebers, infectious disease specialist and Chief Medical Officer, addresses the recent steep decline in hospitalizations region-wide. He also discusses the fact that we are still seeing daily admissions and what that tells us about the virus. https://bit.ly/38p95fW

Today is Global Hand Washing Day, which means more this year than ever! Hand washing is an essential part of keeping food safe, preventing diseases, and helping children grow strong. Here are a few ways you can make a difference today and every day: Wash your hands with soap at critical times, make hand-washing part of your family meals, and be sure to establish places to wash your hands in the household, in your community, in schools, workplaces, and in health facilities. #healthyhands #handwashing

This year’s World Mental Health Day comes at a time when our daily lives have changed considerably as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The past months have brought many challenges. It is more important than ever that we give our mental well-being the care and attention it deserves. Today, take some time to do something that brings you happiness, relaxation, or just the chance to reflect on what you need to focus on you. And, if you need more than just self-care, we are here for you! https://bit.ly/3hZCEae #WorldMentalHealthDay

Physician. Family man. Mentor. Friend. Colleague. These are only a few roles Dr. Fouad Sattar played as he lived his life as an inspirational leader in this community, bringing joy to countless colleagues, mothers and families as an OB/GYN for more than 40 years. The Ellis and Bellevue family lost one of our dear friends last week with the passing of Dr. Sattar. When trying to find where to begin when honoring a man of such great accomplishment and whose contributions and im...pact on the community transcends far beyond the classroom or labor and delivery floor, it can feel overwhelming, as if there are no words to amplify the true goodness of what he embodied. From holding the hands of women and new parents, welcoming their greatest joys into this world to inspiring and sharing his wealth of knowledge with new physicians, he has left an immense imprint on all the hearts of those whose lives he has been a part of. His gentle kindness brightened the day of everyone he encountered, and that will be sorely missed. While he has been quoted thanking those around him for all they have brought to his life, it feels only right that we say farewell with an abundance of thanks and gratitude for all the life lessons, wonderful memories, and joy he has brought to all of us. So, thank you, Dr. Sattar. May we all follow your lead and live our lives with passion, a drive to help others, unending compassion, and keeping a smile even in the hardest of times. Our lives are all that much richer for having had you a part of it.

Does it feel like your maternity leave has flown by and your return to work is just around the corner? This shouldn't mean you have to stop breastfeeding. It is your legal right to have a private place to pump or breastfeed at your place of employment. It is not only a legal benefit to you, but also benefits employers. By having a lactation program or designated space, many companies report lower absenteeism and turnover rates, lower medical and insurance costs, and improved productivity. Want to learn more about how to best prepare for your return to work while breastfeeding? Sign up for one of our classes today! https://bit.ly/2NodyEB #wbw2020
