Brings goosebumps to my skin all over again. The 1980 winter games were a magical fortnight that I remember watching on my low-rez, large screen 25 TV. In addition to the Miracle on Ice team, we were treated to the excellence of the tree-trunk thighed Eric Heiden who dominated the last outdoor speed skating Olympic events ever held, winning 5 individual golds. And his little sister Beth won a Bronze for a feel good family story. For me personally, I became enthralled that ...Olympics by Alpine skiing thanks to the dominance of a quiet Swede named Ingemar Stenmark who won both the slalom and giant slalom golds. His grace and precision inspired me to try Alpine skiing, I fell in love with the sport and made it my lifelong passion and occupation. I’ve been working in the ski industry ever since late in that magical sporting year of 1980. I still watch untold hours of Winter Olympics every four years but there will never again be one that matches the excitement, energy, euphoria and life-changing magic of the 1980 games.

Wow! How would you like to spend the winter (North America’s summer!) selling and fitting boots, making insoles and skiing at one of Australia’s premier resorts? Rosbert International, Masterfit’s Australian distributor, is working with large retail partners at Perisher, Mt. Buller and Jindabyne to staff three Masterfit-branded bootfitting operations. They are seeking THREE top tier US bootfitters with an entrepreneurial spirit to run each operation. You must be Masterfit U...niversity Masters Level Certified, a regular user of Masterfit’s AirVac Molding System and have experience making Instaprint QF insoles. Here’s the deal: Covered expenses: Airfare to Australia and return to US; visa application fees; season pass and performance ski loan; and car to use for the season. Assistance securing lodging. Salary AU$35/hr. (AU$1=US$0.67) Commission: AU$35 per boot sold and AU$10 per custom footbed. Flexible 35-40 hr. work week The gig starts mid-June and runs through early September.
