I recently came across an article about marriage in The NY Times that I really liked. It's called "Try These ‘Love Hacks’ to Fix Your Marriage." It lists several relatively quick and easy things you can do to make things better. I especially liked the idea of imagining during an argument what an outside third party who is friend of your marriage would say about the argument. In a controlled experiment at Northwestern U., the couples who did this were more satisfied with their marriage than the ones who didn't.
