Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Summer Recreation 29.11.2020

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 virus, the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Summer Recreation program will not run this year. The Board that oversees the program voted unanimously to suspend the program for a year. While we are disappointed, we are already looking towards 2021 and making our program a model program for surrounding communities. People who have registered, please keep a lookout for an email from the director regarding the return of funds that may have been paid. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Dear Parents/Guardians: I hope this note finds you safe and healthy. For the last 5-6 weeks, we have all learned and adapted to a different type of lifestyle. Children aren’t going to school. Kids aren’t having play dates and sports and recreation programs are at a standstill. If your children are anything like mine, they would return to school at a minute’s notice to see their teachers and friends. They’d tolerate homework ifit meant being able to g...o to practices, play games, and return to some normalcy. We are planning to hold Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Summer Recreation 2020. Obviously, this will depend on a number of factors. We are in constant communication with the school district, as well as Saratoga and Schenectady County. We will follow their guidelines and recommendations. With that being said, the directors are actively putting together a program that includes, field trips, themed weeks, activities, games, swimming, and most importantly time to socialize and meet new friends. This year, the program will be held at Pashley Elementary School and run from June 30 through July 24. The program will run from 8:30am-2:30pm with early drop off available. There will once again be bussing to assist with travel to and from the program. I had thought about doing an early bird sign-up, as well as a normal and late sign-up fee. With all that is going on, I am going to keep a consistent fee of $385.00 (same as last year.). Because of the uncertainties, we are going to do registration a bit differently. Parents may register their children for the program, but withhold payment until a final determination about the program is made. If you choose to pay with registration, your check will not be cashed until a final decision to run the program is made. This year we are going to take no more than 125 children, so reserve a space for your child early. I expect there will be awaitlist. The staff at the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Summer Recreation program has worked incredibly hard over the last three years to make our program one that the community can trust, be proud of, and recommend to family and friends. We certainly hope that you will help us get the word out about the program. We are committed to bringing some normalcy back to our community and to our children’s lives. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. I can be reached at [email protected] or by phone/text at 518-598-7018. We look forward to serving you (Iknow many of you could use a break from homeschooling) and your children. Stay safe, healthy, and be well!
