Name: Leafy Seadragon, Glauert's Seadragon (Phycodurus Eques) Origins: Southern & Western Australian Coasts Habitat: Seaweed, Kelp Covered Rocks, Sandy Areas Temperament: Peaceful Diet: Carnivorous... Even the keenest eye could miss these unique oddballs in their natural habitat! The aptly named Leafy Seadragon exhibits one of the most spectacular displays of camouflage in the entire animal kingdom. With slow, subtle movements and flowing protrusions on its back, this otherworldly fish perfectly mimics nearby floating seaweed, becoming virtually invisible to both predator and prey. And to make their hide and seek game even stronger, Seadragons have the incredibly ability to change their colour to match the varied habitat in which they live. As well, it is male Seadragons that care for and protect the bright pink eggs until they've hatched, reversing nature's typical parenting roles and making them one of the coolest and most interesting fish in the ocean. #LeafySeadragon #Camouflage #WeirdNature #CreatureFeature #BigAls #KeepOnTankin #BringUsHome
