Who else is preparing for winter?! Some tips to make sure your wood stove performs like it should: . .Use dry seasoned wood. Seasoned wood will look lighter i...n color, weigh less, and have some hairline cracking. Our Lopi stoves come with a moisture meter! . .Cedar wood is perfect for kindling. . .Oak and Almond are 2 great hard woods that will last long and don’t contain a lot of pitch/sap. Oak produces a bit less ash than Almond. . .Pine comes a-plenty in these parts but should be used sparingly! It contains a lot of pitch and clogs flus faster . .Cover your wood to keep it dry . .Try not to have a low, smoldering fire all the time. When you start your first fire of the day, keep the door cracked and let it get nice and hot to burn off any creosote that has accumulated overnight . .Use non-slicked newspaper and lots of kindling to get your fire started. We stack our kindling in a cross-hatch pattern . .Clean you Stove and flu every season! Hurry and make your appointment, we’re starting to book into November already! . .Each Stove will have a bit of a learning curve to burn properly. The manual will have lots of tips to help! . .Today’s stoves are not like your Grandpa’s stove!! With today’s strict EPA standards, we now have to learn how to use the damper, air control, baffle system, ash pan, and other important components properly. Gone is the giant steel box that leaked air and gobbled the family’s trash Now we have more compact, clean burning, efficient heaters for our homes! . .Call us today if you need a reliable source for your firewood! . . . . . . #firewood #burnwise #woodstove #stoveinstall #lopistoves #winteriscoming #hearthandhome #hibernation #instagood #woodfireplace #fire #shoplocal #mytuolumnecounty #cabinlife #mountainhome #mountainstore See more
