As we approach our national holiday honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we are taking this moment to affirm our commitment to anti-racism at Blue School. Racial identity development and an understanding of race equity work is an ongoing process that begins with very young children and develops and deepens as children continue to learn about themselves and their world. Blue School is committed to this work throughout the year with our students, familie...s and staff, and has highlighted it for the last five years through honoring and celebrating the life, legacy and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Oratorical Festival. During the festival, students in 4th-8th Grade present speeches or poems honoring the important and powerful words of leaders and activists past and present. Our most flavorful afterschool class has come to an end ...In ‘Snack It Out’ with art teacher (and food connoisseur) Caroline, 4th-8th grade students learned how to make simple snacks to savor in between @zoom classes or after a day of onsite learning. New, tasty recipes were featured in each class, all simple and approachable, so our students could cook on their own!
