As well as celebrating Labor Day, we think it's important to remember its history and origins - of workers coming together to demand recognition and change! The first Labor Day took place on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, right here in New York state when 10,000 workers took unpaid time off to march from City Hall to Union Square in New York City. This was the first Labor Day parade in U.S. history and attendees celebrated with a picnic, concert and speeches. At this t...ime, the average American worked 12-hour days and seven-day weeks in order to merely survive. Extremely unsafe working conditions were also common. Labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America's strength and well-being, as well as labor unions becoming active and vocal about better conditions. The first Labor Day was both a celebration of the hard working American, and a call to make circumstances better for those who were helping to build the prosperity of America itself. By 1894, 23 more states had adopted the holiday, and on June 28, 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed a law making the first Monday in September of each year a national holiday

He is an incredible person and we are honored to work with him every day. BBG would not of had and continue to have the growth we have had without Mikey.
