@whatsbethanyreading says, "This book delivered everything is was looking for in a lighthearted romance. Strong female character, lots of jokes & pop culture references, real life issues, silly predicaments (LOL at the pads in the first chapter), and of course- a fake engagement! ... This book was predictable and mushy and I loved every page."
@readinglitsandtakingtrips says, "Harper’s writing is amazing. It is so atmospheric, intriguing, and suspenseful. I LOVE small town vibes and the descriptions of the locals, their favorite spots, and long time memories were spot on. As much as I enjoy Harper’s scenery, her characters are even better. They feel real and flawed and I felt like I was there with them, chatting about old times and having a coffee at the Surf and Turf... I highly recommend it, mate."

New year, new books! Make 2021 the year you read the most amazing books, starting with one of our January selections! The Survivors: Home sweet home? Well, not exactly. This eerie seaside town is burdened by secrets, storms, and an unsolved murder. The Prophets: An endangered love between two enslaved men is at the heart of this expansive, devastating, and lyrical debut.... The Dating Plan: Can two people become fake-engaged, finally please their families, and feel fulfilledwithout falling in love? Well... The Removed: Resonant, lyrical, otherworldly. A genre-bending look at the tragedies and legacies that impact one Cherokee family. Outlawed: Giddy-up! This feminist spin on a Western stars a gang of lovable outcasts who rob and plot in search of a better life. Head to bookofthemonth.com to learn more!

@read.with.lauren says, "Short stories are a bit of a rare treasure these days, and a collection of them bound in a book feels even more special. But by far the star of this show is the novella (~100 pages) at the end. Evans’ story has those powerful family bonds found in Brit Bennett’s The Vanishing Half and the eerily familiar dystopian society found in Ling Ma’s Severance. And all in under 100 pages. Talk about a book that packs a punch. "

@antagonistviews says, "The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins was a delightfully suspenseful yet leisurely read. I finished it in about 24 hours because I really just had to know what would happen ... The suspense, the characters secrets, the lure of the rich southern lifestyle and more combines for a really great read."
The votes are in, our 5 Book of the Year Finalists are here! The winner will be announced on December 23rd. Stay tuned!
@books_with_annika says, "This one is festive and filled with a bit of magic. Think Groundhog Day (the movie) but set during Christmas. It’s a not too steamy, cozy romance that warmed my heart and made 2020 a bit easier for me."

@aliyahs_reads says: "Being a human was hard, and life was proofthere was no escaping it. ‘You’re human and you have to reconcile that with yourself somehow. Forgive yourself. Allow yourself to feel everything deeply, to grow and learn’ This was such a good read. I am so glad I picked this as my BOTM pick. The characters are to die for and the story line has you unable to put it down. I would highly recommend."

@vasureads says, "[People Like Her] highlights the perils (and certain advantages too) of the current pervasive influencer lifestyle. Told from three character’s viewpoints- husband, wife & the stalker, the story has realistic viewpoints both from the husband’s perspective as well as from the wife’s perspectives due to it being written by a husband-wife team of authors. ... Smart, nail-biting and an intriguing story. It definitely is a page turner and a quick read."

See what our members are saying about November add-ons while you wait for December books. White Ivy: @book.lover.laura says, "I’m starting to learn about myself that I kind of love reading stories with unlikeable protagonists. There’s something about getting into the mind of someone with questionable morals that I find so captivating, and Ivy Lin is absolutely one of those characters. Throw in a deep exploration of wealth, race, and culture in a coming of age story, and y...ou’ve got a pretty great debut!" Goodnight Beautiful: @cassies_books_reviews says, "Soon we find ourselves lost in a dark twisted story that’s filled with lies, obsession, and lots of secrets. I was glued to the pages and when the twist came out of nowhere I was floored!" Tap the link in our bio to learn more! Group: @readingwithaholl says, "Tate writes about 5+ years in Group; introducing us to her group mates, recounting tumultuous relationships along the way, and ultimately showing us what it means to belong." The Hunting Party: @shelfishlybooked says, "A snowstorm, a massive lodge that is snowed in, and a murder make for an amazing mystery. A real whodunnit!! Would highly recommend this time of year."

@proseandpinotnoir says, "These Violent Delights is bigger than Romeo and Juliet. It takes a central theme from the play (identity) and weaves it into a multifaceted plot: 1920s Shanghai is deeply divided by gang, political faction, and nationality. The White Flowers and Scarlets fight for control of the streets while the Nationalists and Communists clash politically. The French have started to treat Shanghai as their own, discriminating against those whose Chinese bloodlines trace back centuries. So this book is about colonialism, factionalism, monsters, madness, and, of course, forbidden romance. ... The plot doesn’t follow the play to a T. Compelling without comprising the integrity of the play. Def recommend!"
Honey, I love you but please leave me to my books.
@hannahrureads says, "For me, part of THE STAR-CROSSED SISTERS OF TUSCANY’s appeal was its setting, Italy. I’m going a bit stir-crazy in the pandemic, and this opportunity to escape was much needed. ... 3 Words: Family. Italy. Superstition. Favorite Character: Poppy-She’s a hoot. Cry Count: 2... What I Didn’t Expect: There was a plot twist that I didn’t see coming, but I won’t say anything else about it so as not to spoil it." See more

@covingtonscollection says, "I love love love this book. It is exactly what I needed during this holiday season. I finished it in two sittings, it was that captivating. Such a unique and fun story. Pick it up, you won’t regret it."

@bookwormingtonight says, "Such a unique writing style. Quick, witty, and with so much feeling. And, oh the dialogue. You will come to know two men, who are in a relationship with each other, and soon to be complicated with one’s mother (love her), and his father, with whom he has been out of touch. This is Bryan Washington’s novel MEMORIAL. MEMORIAL is an intensely moving and humorous story about family, letting go, love, and an exploration of race and gay relationships."

@ddermo5217 says, "This devious tale hooked me right from the very start and was a page-turner to the very end. With flawed, complex characters and a cold-hearted protagonist, my suspicions were focused on everyone at one point or another. It may not have been the perfect murder, but I will say it was the perfect thriller. "
