Last week, our Ornithology department introduced a new female snowy owl named Piper to our male snowy owl Hedwig! Piper came to us in January, and after her quarantine was introduced to Hedwig. The meeting went very well and visitors will be able to see them at our Birds of Prey exhibit! Here’s how you can tell them apart: male snowy owls are usually completely white, while females are noticeably larger than males and have dark brown barring on their feathers.
Today, we’re celebrating #WorldFrogDay! Here you can see a few of the frog species in World of Reptiles: yellow-banded dart frog, Panamanian golden frog, red-eyed tree frog, and dyeing poison frog.
