This month's Everyday Hero Award goes to Meghan. Meghan has worked with us in various departments since she was 16! Though she has advanced in her career as a Social Worker, she has remained employed part-time with Brookdale working evenings and some weekends as a Resident Programs Assistant. She enjoys her time engaging with the residents whether it is helping them learn how to Wii bowl, teaching them computer & iPad skills, participating in games, to assisting Juana with activity planning. Thanks for all you do Meg!
Miss American Rose Day... A friendly reminder to our family and friends- don't forget to stop and smell the roses.
Brookdale Summerfield is a pet friendly community! We have some great dogs and cats here with us! We welcome (and love) our furry friends
Celebrating Oktoberfest at Summerfield. German food, music, and of course beer! PROST! [cheers in German )
Summerfield Knitters have been busy knitting these beautiful (and warm) hats! Our knitting group meets once a week, and they are all working on winter hats to donate to a local church who will distribute them to those in need this winter **Special thank you to Dorothy who put a few hats aside to give to our staff to thank us for all we do each and every day!
Just two friends enjoying a cup of coffee. Our top priority is keeping our residents and staff healthy and safe, but also maintaining a sense of socialization
We are honoring 3 more Summerfield Veterans today. Ron, Don, and Jim all served in the US Army. Ron & Don served for 2 years and Jim served for 6! We are so proud of all of our resident Veterans who served our country, we thank them today and always
Resident recognition time! Today we recognize Betty and Mary. Both ladies volunteer to work in our resident necessity shop every week. They are also the co-presidents of our Resident Council Committee. These ladies meet monthly with our council team to ensure residents' voices are being heard. Thanks to both of these ladies for stepping up as resident leaders!
Part 2 of our Summerfield Serenades!
We’ve recently started a new group called the Summerfield Serenades! A group of residents expressed a desire to start a chorus club. Residents meet every Tuesday for an hour of singing. Marilyn runs the show on the piano and Pat is one of our all star singers. Here’s a little preview!
Our "My Life Story group continued this week. Edith shared with the group her wedding photos. She was 22 years old in these photos! Edith is coming up on her 10th year living here at Brookdale Summerfield. We can always count on her to attend all of our activities! From our daily morning exercise classes to our evening activity, she is always one of the first to show up and participate. We are happy to have her here with us!
As Veteran’s Day is approaching, we’d like to take some time to shine the spot light on some of our resident Veterans. Today we are honoring Joe Watson. Joe served in World War II. We are grateful for his service, and so happy he is here with us today to share his experiences
Residents enjoyed the amazing food from our Spanish night dinner! Special shout out to our kitchen staff Kelly and Jackie for helping us with our delicious menu and our Resident Programs Coordinator, Juana, for making caramel apple sangrias!
