A longtime resident and founding business owner of Smithtown has passed away last night from the Covid 19 virus. Arsenio R. Mastrorocco aka "Rocky", a World War II veteran, a cancer survivor and a New York State Optician was born from Italian immigrants in 1926. He relocated from Brooklyn to start his business and family in Smithtown in 1960. Married for over 45 years to Rose Mastrorocco, survived by two sons, Paul Mastrorocco, Stephen Mastrorocco and two grandchildren Gianna... and Julia Mastrorocco. He enjoyed sailing and was a seasoned handyman. His business, Brookhaven Opticians, continues to operate today and is one of the last original family owned and operated business in Smithtown. "Smithtown has always been good to me and my family" was Rocky's consistent sermon. He always loved Smithtown and how "Smithtown has always been a warm and connected local community"! He always loved to take care of all his local patients as evident by the multi-generational patients that still frequent his office. When asked if he would replay his life over, would he change anything, he said proudly "I would not change a thing"! Living a life of no regrets is what we should strive for as he did! See more
