It seems to be a day-before-Thanksgiving Tradition at Beaver Meadow that we are visited by Bald Eagles! Today we saw two adult Bald Eagles and a 3rd year Bald Eagle on the pond, which reminded us of the Wednesday before Thanksgiving exactly 5 years ago in 2015, when we also saw 3 Bald Eagles on the pond!

Dear Friends of Beaver Meadow Audubon Center, Although we have been burdened, our spirits are not broken. Our nature trails remain open. Explore more than 36 well-marked trails through 8 miles of beautiful nature preserve. Please join our friends, members, and guests to experience the outdoors, watch wildlife and birds, or simply explore the trails throughout this safe, private 350-acre nature center. All currently scheduled outdoor programs will take place and are limited t...o no more than 10 people. We follow the CDC guidelines to offer safe outdoor-based nature education and bird watching programs to individuals, families, and small groups. Please note that our Visitor Center is currently closed to ensure our members, guests, and employees' health and safety. We plan to re-open the Center as soon as possible. We hope to see you soon and wish you, your family, and friends good health and happiness this holiday season. Beaver Meadow Audubon Center is a member-supported non-profit Nature Center. About 75% of the Center's income comes from program fees, donations, and memberships. The Center is headquarters to the Buffalo Audubon Society. Our mission is to lead and inspire Western New Yorkers to connect with and protect the natural world through bird-focused activities, advocacy, and habitat restoration. Please consider supporting us by becoming a member. To support us, please visit www.buffaloaudubon.org. or call (585) 457-3228

Our little Eastern Screech-owl friend has been getting a lot of attention lately! If you head out to Beaver Meadow to look for it, please keep to the following guidelines... It is very important that all our visitors stay on the trail. For your safety, for the health of our Nature Preserve, and for the comfort of this owl, please view it from the trail. This photo was taken from the trail today! Under no circumstances should you try to wake up a roosting owl by playing rec...orded calls or making noises to get its attention. The owl is likely already awake and watching you very closely. Playing calls during the day will cause it unnecessary stress, and can cause it to abandon its roosting site. Please limit the time of your visit to roosting sites to just a few minutes. There are 8 miles of trails at Beaver Meadow and many other exciting things to see. If you are visiting Beaver Meadow, please consider becoming a member and supporting our mission to protect habitat and connect people with birds across Western New York. A family membership is only $40.00 and gives you access to all our trails, preserves, programs, and online newsletter. Visit https://www.buffaloaudubon.org/give.html to become a member today!
