In case you didn’t hear, we lost our beloved friend Alan Theboss Moss Sometimes life presents moments that when you look back, are way bigger than you thought they were at the time. At the time, you put your head down and plowed through and didn’t think of the details, you just got it done. But, sometimes you are lucky enough to live those moments with a friend, someone who helps you carry the load. If you are really lucky, you are with someone that helps you with the burd...en but also helps you slow down and look back and appreciate that moment. And if you are blessed, that person also helps you slow down and see the beauty in everything for all of the days to come. Alan Penn Moss was from another galaxy, another world far far away, because he didn’t play by the rules that most of us do. Alan took no half measures, he pulled no punches, he didn’t snicker, or hum, he was full-on, haymaker, belly laugh, singing his way through life. He taught us all to live more fully, to slow down and reflect, but to also be unabashedly ourselves. We are extremely blessed to have known him, fought beside him, and most importantly to have him in our hearts and our memories forever. We hope that those of us who knew him carry on his way and teach our kids and our kid’s kids to live like that. We will never miss your laugh because we hear it, your hugs because we feel them, or your strength because you made us stronger. We will carry on your legacy. We will do things the way that you would have approved of, and we will honor you every chance that life calls for the famous Alan Moss touch. Those of us who were lucky enough to have you for even a brief time are better for that time and we love you dearly. See more

This past Sunday, John Marren, who runs @BuffalosFamous in the 773 Lounge in Flatbush, invited me to try what some have called the best wings in New York City. Yes, it’s not the easiest location to get to if you’re coming from Manhattan, but I can safely say you won’t regret the hike. The wings are great, there are a lot of TVs, and the beers are flowing. The @773lounge... has a neighborhood bar feel to it, which is a nice break from the typically overrun and loud bars I’m used to in NY. Marren keeps it pretty simple, and he does simple well. The wings only come in two flavors, hot and bbq hot, with varying degrees of heat. I opted for the medium level of both, and even that had me sweating. Both sauces are nice and provide enough variation to warrant getting both. My favorite part was the extra char they had after being fried. The chili cheese fries were nice, too. The chili had a heavy dose of curry which was interesting, and instead of a regular cheddar cheese sauce, they were dressed with blue cheese.
