Softball player Hannah Kwasniewski (Blasdell/St. Mary’s) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week after making her Bengals’ debut on Sunday. The freshman dietetics major registered three hits, going 3 for 5, in her first collegiate action in a pair of losses at No. St. John Fisher. They were Buffalo State’s first softball games in 693 days.

Buffalo State’s Pavone named to SUNYAC Men’s Soccer All-Decade Team
Women’s basketball player Kendall Mills (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) was named the UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Buffalo State Spotlight Senior Athlete of the Week. The senior business major has netted 257 points, including 51 3-pointers in 78 career games over her three seasons with the Bengals. Mills has also tallied 75 assists and 130 rebounds. She has also excelled in the classroom as a Buffalo State Scholar-Athlete honoree and a member of the SUNYAC Commissioner’s Acad...emic Honor Roll. Men’s hockey player Troy Button (Royal Oak, MI/Shrine Catholic) was named the UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Buffalo State Spotlight Senior Athlete of the Week. The senior economics and finance major has played in 57 games over three seasons as a defenseman and has one goal and eight assists to go with a plus-2 rating. Button has also excelled in the classroom, maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout his academic career. Four Bengals honored on SUNYAC Women’s Soccer All-Decade Team
Men’s basketball player Sheldon Adams (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) was named the UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Buffalo State Spotlight Senior Athlete of the Week. The senior psychology major has scored 1,100 career points in 68 games. Adams has averaged 15.9 points per game, including a career-best 18.6 last season. Women’s hockey goalie Bri Gawronski (Dunkirk/Mt. Mercy) was named the UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Buffalo State Spotlight Senior Athlete of the Week. The senior individualized studies major has played in 56 games between the pipes for the Bengals, posting a .909 career save percentage and a 3.19 goals against average. She is also tied for third is school history with 17 wins and has three shutouts. Gawronski was named first team All-NEWHL in 2018-19 and has also excelled in the classroom as a Buffalo State Scholar-Athlete with a 3.89 cumulative grade point average. Men’s swimmer Jon Pilat (Cheektowaga/West Seneca East) was named the UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Buffalo State Spotlight Senior Athlete of the Week. The senior biology major transferred to Buffalo State last season after competing for two years at Erie Community College. Pilat scored in three individual events in his first SUNYAC Championships last February, including touching eighth in the 100 back. He also placed 11th in the 50 free and was 15th in the 100 free. Women’s basketball player Katie Villarini (Hamburg/Hamburg) was named the UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Buffalo State Spotlight Senior Athlete of the Week. The senior health and wellness major has played three seasons with the Bengals and has netted 932 points in 79 career games. The point guard was fourth in the SUNYAC last season, averaging 15.7 points-per-game, and set a school record with 61 3-pointers. She also has 242 career assists, 136 steals and 389 rebounds.
