Fall Festivities with the rectory
We have a new community housing space to fill! BUMP just entered into an agreement with NorthGate and the Buffalo Myanmar Indigenous Christian Fellowship to replicate our housing model in their beautiful Rectory. Know any young adults who would be interested in living in community in Black Rock, just outside of North Buffalo? Please share! The Rectory on Hertel (60 Hertel Avenue Buffalo, NY 14207)... Live in the heart of the Black Rock community! At 60 Hertel, you will be within walking distance to the beautiful waterfront trail, and only minutes from North Buffalo. The Rectory is a residence connected to the beautiful, historic St. John the Baptist Church, which was closed for over ten years. Two churches now own and utilize the property: BMICF (Buffalo Myanmar Indigenous Christian Fellowship) and NorthGate Christian Community (NorthGate at River Rock). The Rectory there is managed by a faith-based organization, BUMP (Buffalo Urban Mission Partnership), for young adults, AmeriCorps members, students and recent graduates serving in the city. Although it is generally a Christian community, we welcome residents from different backgrounds and walks of life. The Rectory has two floors and a large basement. The first floor will be used by Northgate at River Rock and BMICF for their children's ministries (primarily on Sundays). Our residence is located on the second floor. There are 5 lovely bedrooms with two shared bathroom spaces. There are usually 2 residents per bedroom. We have two shared kitchens and a large shared living room space. A community laundry room is located in the basement. Rent is $360/month; includes utilities, internet, and basic furnishings. As it is a community space, the lease stipulates some behavioral expectations which support a positive communal living experience for all residents. Fellowship times are organized at least once a week. Come live in community with other young adults. If interested, please contact resident director Jess Lee at [email protected].

One of the things that makes BUMP special is the chance to LIVE IN COMMUNITY together, at the Rectory on Buffalo's West Side. Last night, we surprised our Assistant Resident Director Angelica with an Ice Cream Social to thank her for her service, and have her officially "pass the baton" to our new ARD, Miranda. They are pictured here with our RD, Matthew. We are thankful for you Angelica, Matthew, and Miranda!
