I cannot take credit for writing this but it is a message that I want to share: Travel & Tourism account for 330 million jobs- yes, 1 out of every 10 jobs around the world is affected by tourism! The travel industry has been dealing with the Coronavirus since January... an additional 2 full months before it really impacted lives here. And it will be the last industry to start up again. There is now much fear installed in people’s minds about traveling. (I have been planning ...your vacations for years and 2020 has been a Rollercoaster of Countless hours spent on hold with tour operators & air-line, Cancelling travel arrangements, Rescheduling vacations, answering questions, Following up on refunds & future travel certificates, etc.) Travel Agents only get paid when their clients travel and most do not charge a service fee. We are not eligible for unemployment. Agents have been working hard refunding their hard earned money back to their clients by the thousands. Most have not had new trips booked now for months. And for many they’re now out of work until things pick back up....or permanently. ***So this I beg you, when you do decide to travel again- PLEASE use a Travel Agent. Do not click a book button on a website without a heartbeat ever again.** To my industry colleagues- you are warriors and thank you for holding down the front. Until we are traveling again!!
